| Should I get a FEMALE OR A MALE YORKIE?? I have a female who will be 4yrs old on December 10th . . I like how she is very loving and sweet. She doesn't bark at everything and she doesn't pee all over the place. She is a very well behaved relaxed lap dog. She does favor my husband when he is home even though I was around before him, lol. Then he leaves and she uses me until he comes home, haha. When she was a puppy she had energy but never out of control as my friends male yorkie is. He is annoying, barking and tearing things up all of the time, very rowdy. Are the males all like this? Do I have to get a male because I already have a female and the two females will fight? My female Mia Amore is fixed and she has never had puppies. What is the best thing to do based on some of your personal experiences??? Also what do I look for in the puppy to have the same temperament as Mia? Thanks in advanced |

| I have a female yorkie puppy that is almost six months and she has tons of energy. So I think the sex of the dog doesn't matter that much on that, depends on the personality of the pup. I have a female Golden Retriever also and they get along great. I'm sure someone else that has more than one Yorkie will be able to help answer you. Good luck on your search and I hope that my Pita turns out as great as your Mia! |

| I have a 4yr old male yorkie and a 2yr old female maltese, and they get along absolutely wonderful. My yorkie is very loving and sweet! So is my female though The female is the barker in our house, and our male is the extremely docile one. I think it's more about the individual dog's personality. What I always say is don't look for a "boy" or "girl", look for the one that steals your heart and make sure he/she fits in and gets along with your baby.

| I think you should get a male! I have a male and a female yorkie which I wouldn't trade for the world. I find that funny what you said about your female favoring your husband. My female is the same way and I had her for two years before I met my husband. Now when he is around, its like I'm not even there. But my male is my baby! He is defiantly a mommas boy! I hear that is the case a lot with male dogs, they tend to like the female owner and female dogs tend to like the male owners. I think you should get a male as long as you intend on getting him fixed. My male became more calm once he was neutered and he stopped lifting his leg on the furniture. I don't believe all male yorkies are annoying and rowdy. I know mine isn't. I think it all depends on how you raise him. If you let him get away with barking and tearing things up, he will!

| i have a baby girl, she is about 9 months old. and even though she does the same thing you say, like it appears as if she favors daddy. (she gets so excited when fiance gets home) but i think it's only because she hasnt seen him all day. because if i leave the house and leave milu with my fiance, then she will cry at the door, and wait at the door for me to come back and ignore my fiance. before i got milu, i had the same concern. i was concerned that maybe girl doggies are not as cuddly and loving as boy diggies. but after having milu i think that it just really depends on the dog. but i guess if you MUST pick a gender and say that gender is more affectionate, then maybe boy doggies? i read something and have heard people say that boys are more affectionate. i personally would really try to find a doggie that gets along with your dog and the family. because i think it's such a pain when the animals don't get along and they fight...(and could be really dangerous too!)

| I have a male and a female and they get along very well. One of the reasons they do though is because they have opposite personalities. One is dominant and one is submissive. So I would just look for the pup that has the personality you desire
