| Naked=Cold? I do not dress up my Yorkie. I am not judging those that do, in fact I think it is cute. Just not my style. I am way too practical and I don't like bringing more attention on myself. (these dogs get enough attention) I am just curious if sometimes clothes...like a sweatshirt might be necessary? Shelby seams to shiver on overcast mornings when we walk so I have started putting a t-shirt on her. Is the shivering a Yorkie thing or do Yorkies really get cold? I know their fur is not layered like other dogs. Should I get a sweatshirt for my dog? Anyone have a suggestion for finding a comfortable, practical one? |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I dress mine for the cute factor AND for warmth in the winter - Cheri and Chanel both wear jammies during winter but not in summer...There are many sites that offer really nice sweats and sweaters - or even just t-shirts for yorkies and yes - they really do get cold....I know mine stop shivering if I dress them and cuddle right down on cold nights |

| Gidget doesn't really wear clothes....but even though we are in So Cal it does get chilly in the fall and winter so when we are out she wears a little sweater to keep her cozy. This year I think I am going to get a few sweatshirts for her and a parka as well......Right now she has a sweater that I made her from a old leg warmer I had but she loves it :P......when they have Pj's on can they still go potty (is there a opening?) that might be something I should look into for her :P |

| I live in Maine so I can answer this one. LOL. Yes they do get cold and it is a good idea to put something on them. Yorkie hair is different from other dogs hair and I'm not just saying that because i make clothes. |

| Villette...winter? huh? hehe too funny! Mine wear sweaters and coats in the winter because here in NY it is very cold. When I lived in AK Simon was just a baby and I had to dress him in a little sweater and a coat because he would get so cold. Hallie tends to shiver at nightime so I put a tshirt on her to sleep in. |

| I seem to remember someone asking this same question awhile back and someone said that Yorkies don't have an undercoat like other dogs and this combined with the fact they have human like hair makes them get cold when other dogs don't. Hope this helps. |

Yes this is what it says in my Yorkie book too. I put a coat on coco in the Winter. If I don't then she just shivers and refuses to walk. | |

| I, too, don't dress up my Yorkie usually. Having said that, she gets really cold even down here in the winter, so she has a sweat shirt and a little sweater that I really had fun shopping for. I also splurged and bought her a kimono with a pink boa neck just to drive my son and the men in the family nuts. It's fun every once in a while. She gets real excited in the winter or on cool rainy days when she sees her little shirt, so I think she does need it sometimes. Hope this helps. sabrinasmom |

| I have sweaters and coats and even what they call Cabana wear for all mine because they do get cold after a swim or a bath or when it is chilly in th morning and evening. The cabana wear is made out of terry cloth so it is like a towel and it keeps them warm after a swim in the pool. I also have a robe and a hoodie sweatchirt which they wear after a bsth when their little bodies are trying ot warm up again cuz sometimes it takes a while. Just do some online shopping at the stores listed on here under Products for sale or better yet, you and I can meet at Preppy Pet in Temecula for shopping and lunch!!!! |
