I'm sorry I'm not sure how to help, we've had Mika since she was a baby too. But she didn't like it either at first, I think its just a case of perseverance and bribery!!!

I have the same problem with Keegan & his sweatshirts. I wait until I KNOW he's chilly & I have no problem getting him to accept it.
Take her outside when it's chilly & keep offering her the jacket. She'll accept it when she is chilly enough. Yes, they are stinkers.

My Yorkies taught me this. If they do not reach your goal in one step then it needs to be broken down in baby steps. When the baby step is successful then you have broken through and they now understand. Think of the goal as a process instead. Take it slowly and give them about a week to get use to it. I will have them smell it first, then put it on them and give praise and treats. It it has velcro you need to get them use to the sound way before putting it on them. Start out with just a minute and build up from there. Make only good and fun things happen when the coat is on.
Good Luck and have fun teaching Sophie and Pebbles.

Well, when I first put anything on Lucky he went wild. I mean he really would run around pulling it off, getting it in his mouth and chewing it, roll around and around. Each day a few times a day I would put it on him and try to get his mind off of it by playing or giving him a treat or just anything I could think of. Well, after several attempts he starting keeping stuff on longer and longer until now he doesnt pay any attention to anything I put on him. It took awhile but it was worth the hassle. My father in law said he couldnt believe how Lucky wears stuff now. We never thought he would.

Is it too tight? My pup doesn't like this that he feels are constricting him. I put him in a jersey tee-shirt that is a bit big for him, but he seems to like it a little loose...

I think you might've hit the nail on the head there ~ bribery! lol Get her fave food and giver it along with a LOT of praise and attention once the coat is on. Another thing I find gets my Chi, Ellie, slinking away when she sees me coming towards her with a hoodie/coat/harness is ones that go over the head. They dont exactly love that kind. If the coat you have is one that does go over her head I would invest in another if I were you.

Good luck, let us know how you get on, k?

My suggestion to you is to put it on, and the immediately shift her attention to treats and games! She'll forget it within a couple of minutes. Took bella aorund 10-15 minutes

I think all of the advice here is good, I just wanted to offer a funny story.

One of my friends had a pitbull some time ago, and he REFUSED to wear a jacket. As you know, pitbulls are sensitive to cold weather because of their fur and build, and they lived in NYC to boot.

Anyway, one day my friends took him to the beach to play with some other dogs who were wearing jackets -- and after that, boom, he wanted a jacket too. He never had a problem wearing clothes again.

So maybe you just need to hang out with some other dogs in sweaters.

I tried to put a sweater I bought on Sophie and found out that she didn't like it as she wouldn't move with it on. It was one that had arms, I went to Walmart and found a sweater that had large open slits where the arms go. Without the sleeves, she is much more comfortable and has much more freedom. Just an idea that worked for me.

We started getting Gucci into sweaters when he was about 3 mo. It was a nightmare, but I knew hat by the time cool weather hit, he'd better be used to wearing his outerwear. Again, perseverance is the answer. I purchased a little quilted vest with a hood and it was very difficult to get him to cooperate He now sits on the stool, and lifts one leg at a time to get into his harness and vest. I was amazed the first time he didn't try to snap at me!

Plane thanks for hints for sophie

hi all thanks for all your tip's and funnies,i kept trying on and off all day yesterday i think i'm winning ha!she did everything to get it off rolled chewed sulked as you all said she would,i did try the treats but as she is so small she isn't really interested .but eventually i thought i'll try the
psychological approach i went out with pebbles in her coat and she got so fed up of us going out without her she eventually thought it was better to wear it and go with us ( she did sit on the doorstep contemplating for about half an hour first ha!) perhaps we should keep this in mind for future reference .well we have got the snow as expected here in brit, my bungalow overlook the fields and if you can think of the typical christmas postcard that's what my view looks ,like absolutely beautiful. keep healthy and keep in touch .pauline & girls .

Default treats

Gucci will do anything for a Cheerio and he's only 4#. Maybe your baby would respond to that for a bribe. Gucci was so small when we brought him home i had to force feed him and syringe water into him. Eventually he learned it was easier to feed himself! Thankfully . . . We still have to play games with his feeding, sometimes placing his kibble in a row in front of his dish. It's entertaining, but sometimes soooo time consuming. Good luck with your babies. We moved away from the cold about 18 years ago. I miss the snow on Christmas day, but as far as the rest of the year... no thanks!

I know for my two sometimes they like clothes and get excited when I hold something up and other times they act mad about it. I know neither one of mine like anything on their back legs. One day after a bath Mo acted like he wanted his pajamas on. So I put them on and he snuggled down in his stroller for a nice long nap. The next night I put them on and he refused to even walk and just glared at me. I just never know. They can be so fickle.
