| Dirty Beards? Hi YorkieTalkers! How do you keep your Yorkies beards clean? I know the obvious answer is to brush it out, but my baby just acts like I am MURDERING him. He mostly gets wet dog food, leaves, little pieces of fabric from my quilting and just random stuff around his mouth. Also he gets crusty tears, how do you make that stop? Is using a warm cloth okay? So...Please help! My baby is crunchy and stinky! I give him baths every week or so, but he just gets so dirty!! help please! |

| I remove junk out of my dog's beards by using a flea comb I got from my veterinarian. I wet a towel made for babies and put baby shampoo on the towel and wet their beards. Then I use the flea comb to get junk out of their beards. Last edited by Lovely05; 11-21-2008 at 10:00 PM. |

| No advise here.....but my new dog sam has an extreme underbite and when he drinks water he sticks his whole face in the water dish all the way up to his ears. Ive never seen a dog get so wet. Maybe some are just messier than others.

| I use baby wipes for Daizy's beard...and a fine comb to brush it out.. and when I first started brushing her...you'd have thought it was the end of the world....however it's important to brush yorkies daily...so after I brushed Daizy I always gave her a special treat...now several months later...she waits patiently for her treat while I brush her! My new baby is worse than Daizy ever was...LOL so I have my work really cut out for me now! Good luck!

YT Addict | odies beard gets really dirty when i let him lick our plates or bowls after dinner sometimes... so what i do is, let him finish licking the plates =D then rub his face down with a wet wash cloth and then rub his face down with a dry towel and then brush through it if it needs it he doesnt mind any of the above either. he likes licking the plates and therefor he knows his lil face has to be washed c= |

| Kairo didn't like to be brushed at first either. In fact he would pout on the other end of the couch when I let him go. But now he waits patiently as if he has realized that it is his lot in life to be brushed daily. As for the tears my groomer told me they were due to the minerals in our water and to only give Kairo bottled water which seems to be helping. |
