| So how much $$$$$$ So after the $10,000 Yorkie thread I started feeling stupid about what i paid for my new baby. I KNEW I was overpaying when I got him but i still could not walk away. I wish he had been mean or nippy or SOMETHING, but the little sucker started going nuts and licking my face like he was desperate to love me....SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHH He is 6 months old(just a week shy of 6 anyway), had scraggy silly hair and was 2.8 pounds . He has a fragile frame but is FULLLLLLL of energy and eager to please. He is not afraid of anybody or anything and ANYBODY could pick him up and he would lick them to death instead of being afraid....LOL He is microchipped and has well kept up to date records. So is it dumb to pay for personality when he definately is pet quality?????? I had visited some other Yorkies 2 weeks before I found this one and they were half the cost and quite nice looking, but this boy just bonded with me. TEE HEE HEE... kind of the same situation as my hubby....LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Oh yeah...I am located on the East Coast if that makes any difference in prices Yorkieangel |

| Well on the East coast I imagine your pricing is higher than here. Nevertheless I paid doulble for my female than I did my male. She was small and so cute. I could not resist.

| As long as you are happy with your Yorkie, it shouldn't matter what you paid for him or her. Don't let other people make you feel bad about your new family member. It's your money, it's your decision, it's your life. Whether you paid $0 or $25,000, it really doesn't involve anyone else but your immediate family! Also, prices on both coasts are probably a bit pricier than the Midwest. And certain cities (like NYC, or LA) will bump up the price as well mainly because of the cost of living. But an average person will probably think you are crazy if you paid a few thousand even, which is why I usually never tell anyone how much we got Yoda for (he was just average priced, but priceless to us!). Your Yorkie does sound like a pure angel, full of joy and appreciation. Give it a few years, and I'll bet you feel that he's worth every penny you paid for him! We fell in love with our Yoda's personality too, even though he was a tiny bit more than his brothers and sisters of the litter. We never know when we'll fall in love! |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | I think no matter what you pay for your little one, they are worth more....we were lucky and didn't pay as much as most for my girls but I would have paid double to get them...they are perfect in every way in my opinion!!! The love they give you is worth so much more....

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I agree with Fasteddie and the rest. To get a dog that's a perfect fit for you is priceless. You're going to have him for 15 years or so, so when you think about how much you're paying a year or a month, thousands of dollars is insignificant.

| The vast majority of us are buying pet quality yorkies. Once that decision is made it boils down to what you can afford. And even if I had to stretch my budget a little to get a pup that I loved the looks of and that had a wonderrful personaltiy I'd do it. I'd consider myself lucky that that yorkie baby and I found each other. Now, having said that, it's also true that an expensive yorkie isn't necessarily going to have a good personality. By the time these little ones are ready to leave home though, you can pretty well judge what their personality is after just one visit. Bo was extremely well socialized. It sounds like you've found a gem at any price. Don't second guess yourself. Congrats on finding the love of your life, well, of the furred variety anyway!

| I know we overpaid for Bradley. Although we were given Just about everything we ever needed to take care of him included. (Crate, toys, harness, leash, food, etc.) I still don't regret it! He has been such a joy to have in my life. We fell in love with him the second we saw him, and would do it again in a second! |

| Don't ever regret paying whatever price you paid. You BONDED with him and that's all that really matters. You could have paid a lower price for one but this one apparently grabbed your heart strings. You can't put a price on that. It's PRICELESS. You're a very lucky lady to have found this one.

| You don't have to feel stupid about the price you paid your little one . A person pay for what she can afford . Mine are rescued one and I don't feel ashame to say it . The price I paid for them is my business and nobody have to know the price . Actually , I am taking care of 2 pups that came from a puppymill bust . I have learned to tube feeding the little ones so everything goes well and I am happy with the situation . I don't even know if I'll keep one but I found out I am really happy helping those little angels no matter the breed , it can be a German Shepherd Dog or a Chi , Its my life . These experiences are always joyful and I am never bored to do it . Last edited by Diego; 08-22-2005 at 04:22 AM. |
