| Does a yorkies hair get thicker? Do yorkies hair ever get thicker as they get older? Hot Rod is almost 15 mos and Maggie 6 mos. Their hair is really thin, esp. on their head. I was just wondering do you think their hair will ever thicken up? I always see everyone's yorkies with beautiful full heads of hair and nice thick topknots. I had a bow with a barrette on Maggie the other night and it lasted about 5 minutes-maybe. It was too heavy and big for her. They are 3.7 lbs and 3 lbs.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pixie has the thin silky coat which is so much easier to take care of. My other 2 have cottony coats and are so hard to keep mat free and nice looking. Pixie's hair hasn't really changed since I got her at 13 months and she is almost 3. It grows quick and I find the less I comb her the better as she looses some hair each time I comb her.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Sounds like they have silk coats and no it won't "thicken" up....silk coat is actually what they are supposed to have and it's so much easier to care for. For a nice topknot...do not cut the hair on the bridge of their noses nor cut bangs.

| Thanks. Hot Rod definitely has a silky coat. Maggie's hair is a little bit on the coarse side but it is definitely not wirey or curley. Sigh, I've already got a bow collection for Maggie. Guess I'll have to change out all the barrettes and bands to smaller ones and hope they stay in.

| I have heard the Solid Gold Seameal supplement does great as a coat supplement.

A bow trick....go buy a bag of girl's hair bands...they come in a bag with a variety of sizes. Put the topknot up in one of those...then clip the barette beneath it...or if it's a bow with a band...loop one of the bow bands underneath the band on her head.

| Addison was shaved short (about 1/2 inch) with the exception of his head, they left longer, they did trim the hair above his eyes and we are letting this grow out. I was wondering how fast the coat will grow. It is very hard to see this hair around his eyes so unruly! (I have had him a month) Cant wait to try bows!
