| another new mom and poster Hi Everyone - I am a new mom, 1st time dog owner and 1st time poster - My husband and i have had our minature yorki for 3 weeks and he as born 8/24/08. My husband is totally attached to him and I love him to death but I need help with something. He seems to get more aggressive with me and charges at me barking like a wild dog and it really scares me. Any advice on how to get him to stop would be greatly appreciated. He also does the same thing when playing with his toys. He goes nuts with them flipping, barking and growling. Is this normal? Thank You. |

| Hi! welcome to Yorkietalk! My little one is 13 weeks and does the same thing. He's not mean or aggressive, just a rough player. We just calm him down a bit and he stops being so crazy. If he starts doing it again we just stop playing. He's gotta be good to play with me. Hope that helps and good luck! |

| Maya's takin to doing this every evenng on schedule. I call it the biting game... she is showing off her yorkie prowess. I pull my sweatshirt sleeves over my hands where she can't hurt me and we go at it for about 15 mnutes. I welcome it because it helps her get off her little pent up energy from being back in the laundry room all day while I am at work. Mika used to do this by you endlessly playing fetch with her, but Maya is not a go fetch girl. I think she considers the hubby the alpha male and you are chopped liver.....

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome!! Cali did that when she was a puppy. I thought she was possessed. She would just lunge at me and bite. I would always get up say no and stop playing with her, but the next time same thing. She grew out of it and is the sweetest of my girls now. She is so non aggressive. So I think it's a stage they can go through.

| To calm him we have him sit and then lay down and stay. Luckily he learned those tricks before he went crazy Once he's calm enough to lay down and stay he gets a treat and we start playing again. We used to do the sweatshirt over hands and play with our other dog, she was a border collie mix and she LOVED it. I would do it with Walker, but he gets carried away and lunges at my face which is BIG nono. Sooo, we've found our own way. |

| My mom has a 6 week old litter of yorkies and one of her little girls does something similar. When we squeak a toy she comes running and growling and will charge any other pup around. She is a bit aggressive at times and other times she just wants a cuddle. I call her Attie for Attitude. |

| Welcome to YT. Our little guy did the same thing when he was younger, but making him consistently lay down before we would play with him helped that behaviour. Congrats on your little furball |
