| Anyone flown with their baby before?? YAY! my mom said she's willing to pay for Mya to come to Thanksgiving in Florida What kennel/carrier/bag should I use? Do people use the hard ones? or the soft carrier bags? Do you sneak them out while on the plane? to give them kisses and cuddle? or no? I will probably give her dramamine because she gets carsick and just incase-plus itll make her sleep through the flight ... Any tips would be great!

| I've flown with Ranger a few times and am taking Ryder to San Diego the first week of December. I have never had any trouble. I use a soft carrier (Kwigy Bo Charlie) and have always been able to at least put the bag in my lap during the flight. I just ordered a new Petote carrier for Ry, but may still use the KB for the flight, we'll see. If you can help it, don't fly United. Unfortunately I am, and it's going to cost well over the price of my ticket to fly Ryder, but it's worth it to me. Make sure you call and add her to your reservation- they only accept a few dogs per flight. I didn't know you could give Dramamine to dogs, but I know they can take Benadryl (which is a main ingredient of Dramamine), that should help her rest and not get sick. How long is your flight? I usually feed half Ranger's breakfast 2 hours before we leave the house, and supplement with Nutrical along the way. Good luck!

| Oh you can keep the carrier in your lap!? That's great! It's only about an hour and a half flight. I probably wouldn't feed her that soon before seeing as though she is only 6 months and like only 98% potty trained i'd say. I am flying delta which is still i think way over priced but agree it is worth it. How big is your baby? Mya is almost 8 lbs...I have a kwigy bo carrier but for that long of a trip I think she'd be cramped...it works for trips out to errands etc but I want her to be comfy with enough room. I see a few online that I like but again, that will be adding another 100$ or so to the ticket price for her sigh. Children are expensive

| Well Ranger is 5lbs and Ryder is under 3lbs so the Kwigy Bo is plenty big for Ranger, and actually too big for Ryder. I am a bit worried my new carrier might be too small for flying, but we'll just see. I know a lot of people love the Pet Flys carriers and they seem really roomy. You are not allowed to take the carrier out from under the seat, but everytime I have flown no one has said a word. I think it completely depends on the staff at the time you're flying.

I would definitely talk to your doctor about what medication to give him for his motion sickness. This isn't something to do on your own as incorrect meds or being overmedicated can be really dangerous to them. Check Delta's regulations for the appropriate size carrier for their planes. Make sure your carrier is airline approved. If they are being really picky and it is not, they won't let you use that and will charge you a small fortune to purchase one at the airport. Good luck!!!

| Breyli is a frequent flyer. She even has her own earset for when we fly in my friend's plane. As far as commercial airlines, I would recommend flying in-cabin and not cargo (Breyli's never done cargo). In-cabin, you will need a soft-sided carrier that fits under the seat in front of you. Check your airline for measurement maximums. Also, you will need to go to you vet within 10 days before your flight for a heath certificate if you are flying from one state to another. As long as you return within 30 days, the vet heath certificate should be good, otherwise you will need to go to a vet and get a new one before you make the return trip. Usually, I am able to take Breyli out and hold her during flight (not during take off or landing) but I don't think it is really "allowed" I've never given Breyli any medicine for flights. She is pretty good and just lays there or falls asleep. Try to get your dog to "go potty" before check-in and I would recommend letting her go again as soon after you land as possible. Breyli never peed during flight but i always had a folded pad in her carrier just in case along with clean up supplies and a baggy for easy disposal. |

| I use the standard Sherpa bag - and both my furbutts fly in the same bag. An hour and a half flight really isn't long. Talk to your vet, but I would probably think he'd recommend Children's Benadryl over dramamine. I fly with my kids all the time and its not really a problem, they get ansty during takeoff and landing, but the hum of the airplane seems to put them to sleep during. I flew with my Cavalier for 4 hours and he did great!!

| Oh and note that airlines count the dog carrier as your carry-on or personal item so depending on how picky they are that day, you may have to stuff your purse in your carry-on if you plan on bringing a carry-on, purse and the carrier. |

| Lauren, if you are flying for Thanksgiving, I would count on a packed flight and that the bag will count as one carry on. Don't be nervous - Attendants are usually pretty nice, they love our cutie pies, and if your baby starts to scratch or make noise, I just give the bag a firm shake and a 'no!' and that quiets them right up. Sometimes, I'll just stick my hand in the bag for a while so they know Mommy is still there. You are going to have a wonderful adventure together! Think of yourself as jetsetters!

Senior Yorkie Talker | I just flew Delta with Bella this weekend and found both of my flights VERY un-dog friendly! To the point on my second leg of my trip, the flight attendant got pretty nasty. Making me put the carrier as far under the seat as possible and "do not pet the dog, because it releases pet dander in the air". To which I replied "Delta sure took my money for the pet fee without being worried".

I've flown northwest, midwest, and AA no problems. I try to understand that not everyone is a dog person, but I can't believe the flight attendant told you that! I can see asking you not to take the dog out of the carrier, but to tell you not to pet your dog when he is contained. I would have pulled a copy of their pet policy from my carrier (I always print the pet info from the airline's website and carry it with me when flying) and ask where exactly does it state that I can not pet my dog. I think most airline policies state that you are responsible for your dog and if it makes a mess in its carrier you need to be able to clean it up asap. How are you supposed to do that without placing your hands in the carrier and likely (gasp) touching your dog and possibly releasing pet dander. Therefore, by association, petting is allowed. If Delta was so concerned about pet dander, they wouldn't allow pets in-cabin like Southwest (although I think southwest doesn't because they have the whole no added fees thing and a pet would be an added fee). | |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I stomped right off that plane and headed to the ticket counter. There is NO such policy, just a crabby butt stewardess. She just wanted to argue and I was doing my best not to make a scene.

| Teddi has been on several trips. We use the mini pet flys carrier. I NEVER take her out of her carrier. The rules are that you have to keep them in the carrier and I wouldn't want either the flight attendants to get mad or get in trouble as well as the people who are sitting in the same row as you, you never know if they are dog people or not. I keep her out of her carrier until we get on the plane and the minute we get off the plane she comes out.
