| Dreaded Day Well, tomorrow is Katy Lou's day to be spayed. I plan on staying home with her over the 3 day weekend or longer if need be. I bought some onesies as recommended by others. Does anyone have any last minute advice? I wonder how I will keep her from jumping around after the first couple days. Also any advice regarding food? Soft foods maybe because she will be getting some teeth pulled. I thought I would boil some chicken and broth in case she won't want her kibble and I do have Doc Roy's Forti-cal gel on hand. Do you think she will be okay to sleep with me after her surgery? She is so used to it I think it will upset her too much if she can't. Please say a little prayer for my baby. Thank you. |

| I am sure everything will be fine, except you. I almost went nuts when Tricksie got spayed.

| I went through this twice with my girls. its actually not that bad, very common procedure. plus, its for her own good. you should not give food or water pass midnight tonight, so make sure she eats and drinks plenty before that. after she gets home from surgery, she probably will not eat much due to the effect of anesthesia. I would not recommend sleeping with her after the surgery, and she will be still out that night that she probably won't care much. after my girls got spayed I put her in a baby playyard with food and water within. put a couple blankets (clean ones) in there to keep her warm. its very important that she gets enough rest, and follow the vet's direction on pain meds, she should do just fine the very next day! my younger girl's wound was glued together, no stitches, even better. |

| Thank you all. Yes, I think it will be better for her in her kennel cab in the playpen at least the first night or two. Only thing is she tends to jump a lot in there. The first night I am sure she won't be very lively though. I have been making sure she gets plenty to eat today. I will give her the Forti-Cal tonight too for good measure. I know it is a routine procedure but I will be a nervous wreck tomorrow. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I will keep her in my prayers. I was the same way when Roxie was spayed a few months ago. Roxie slept with me that night and I just kept an eye on her. The first noght and next day she slept a lot, once she felt better she became more active but was fine.

| I too was the same nervous wreck before my baby was spayed....I think those who have gone through it have all felt the same.... When I brought my baby home the same night she was very sleepy and throughout the next day...I just planned on this is time for me to veg out and watch alot of movies while she rested on my lap. It didn't take her long at all to get back to her old self...and the onesies were a great help...I was home for the whole week with her so I could keep an eye on her so she didn't get too active...she did just great...Sending prayers for a smooth easy spay for your lil one

| Hi everyone. Katy Lou did just fine. I worried for nothing. I brought her home about 4:00 PM and she drank a little water. She slept good through the night which I expected. This morning she ate a good breakfast and has been moving around some. I am trying to keep her slowed down as much as possible. She is currently taking a little nap. The onesies are a great help and I am grateful for all the advice here on YorkieTalk. |
