My baby acts different when I come home. If I leave Abigail for several hours and come back home, she greets me with her tail tucked down and her ears pulled back in a somewhat "cowed down" attitude. Does this happen to anyone else? At first I wondered if she had done something that she knew was bad and would look around to find that everything is fine. What could be the reason for this change in attitude...she is usually very self-assured and loving and confident. It makes me feel badly when this happens. We don't often leave her for very long at a time. We leave her to go to church and depending on my work day, if I can't take her with me I will leave her at home for 5 or 6 hours at the most at a time but this has only happened 3 or 4 times. She becomes her normal sweet self after a minute or two. She is 19 weeks old and we have had her since she was 9 weeks old. We have truly been BLESSED to have the little doll! She is so perfect in every way and exactly what we need and love in a pet! Very sociable and happy and sweet and lively...can you tell I'm in love with her! I just wonder if this happens to anyone else and what might be causing this...

That was my first thought the first time she acted this way, but everything seemed to be in order and she seemed to have napped while I was away. As I said, this has happened only 3 or 4 times. With previous dogs, they showed excitement when we returned home so this has been puzzling to me.

| Maybe she thought she was going to get in trouble for something? Who knows what goes through their minds!!! If she does this again, I would just give her some extra lovin'.

Well, she definitely gets lots of loving and she hasn't been in "trouble" to any extent before. She might hear a "no" or be told to "be a good girl" or a few times when she didn't use her puppy pad, she was shown her "mistake" and told "no, no" but never scolded or punished in any way. She has been amazingly smart. I'd love to eventually train her to go outdoors but she is so small and I feel she is safer to use the potty indoors.

You know, you are probably right b/c with time, she should get used to our occasional departures. I've thought that maybe she was afraid being alone. My heart is so involved with her that I am troubled by her feelings. I'm sure she'll be fine...
