| Has this happened to any of your dogs? I woke up this morning and found that my dog had a swelled up ear, took him to the vets and he has an haematoma, have to take him back to the vets on wednesday to have it drained-they will only do this 3 times,if it does not work then we are looking at surgery! been quoted £140 for surgery.Just wondered if any of your pets have had this and what was your experience I must say that it is not a nice sight-made me feel sick. |

| Yes, this happened to me 10 years ago to my show dog no less. She was doing very well at the dog shows. My vet. at the time tried to drain it also, but unfortunatly that treatment did not work & she had to have surgery. We tried to make it stand up again, with no luck. She developed a floppy ear after & we were devistated. As her show career was over, but she was okay after surgery, which we were thankful for. We could have had it surgically fixed to stand up again, but decided against it. Good Luck to you. |

| Actually I totally forgot about this happening to my Krissy, as it was sooo long ago. Your thread reminded me about it. Maybe I am just getting old. lol Don't worry the surgery did work. She is fine now. She never had any other problems with it. |

| Well at least others have had this same problem. Doesn't sound like it's too serious..... Yes, this happened to me 10 years ago to my show dog no less. She was doing very well at the dog shows. My vet. at the time tried to drain it also, but unfortunatly that treatment did not work & she had to have surgery. We tried to make it stand up again, with no luck. We could have had it surgically fixed to stand up again, but decided against it. Good Luck to you. That's too bad about the show dog!! How upsetting for everyone...Glad you opted against surgery...obviously you were putting your babies health and welfare before her career!! :0)

Donating YT Addict | Yes we had a border collie that this happened to at least 10 years ago. She had surgery and she healed up fine. What's weird is the vet told us that probably one of her puppies was chewing on her ear playing and it could have caused it to rupture.
