| Breaking House Rules One of my dogs is perfect. Yes, you heard it here. She really is so well behaved, never goes in the house, and is sweet and funny. The other one is sweet and funnyl, but every other day she pees in the room with the doggie door. What's with that?????? I send her out when she gets up in the morning. I send her out after she eats. Several times during the day, I send her out. Then she pees in the kitchen or doggie door room. Fortunately the rooms are tiled, but occasionally she pees on a rug runner. We've had it cleaned over and over. I give her TONS of love and affection, and can't believe it when she does it. What can I do to stop her? |

| How old is she? Have you had her checked out physically to make sure it isn't a physical problem? |

| Frustrating. I hope you can figure something out. Its funny that she isn't following the lead of the other dog. Do you put her in "time out" when you cathc her? If I catch Noelle I tell her no and I put her in her crate and close the door and come back in 2-5 minutes to let her out. It seems to help.

| This sounds entirely too familiar. The last four days Pebbles is being extremely naughty. This morning I put her on her Pee pee pad and she peed... so I let her out and she peed on the carpet. So I took her outside and she pooped so I brought her inside and she peed on the carpet. Until the last four days, if she went outside or on her pee pee pad... she was good for an hour with no accidents. Now she is peeing on the carpet every time I turn around. At night, she is in a room with a doggie door with my other dog. Sometimes she goes out and uses it, sometimes she decides to go on the floor about four inches from the door. Any advice? |

Scooter has no influence on Jilly. There's no affection between them, which is sad to me. I got Jilly to keep Scooter company when Roxy died. She went into mourning, and I don't think she's ever really gotten over Roxy's death. Anyway, my problem is Jilly peeing in the house. It's driving my husband to distraction. He hates the smell, and I think, just the fact that she does it. Maybe the crate deal will help. I usually can't catch her, but it's sitting there after she does it. I tell her it's a no-no, and put her outside again. Pfft. I think she laughs when she gets outside.

| Yorkie's are REALLY difficult to potty train. Sadie is two and a half years old and STILL has the occasional potty "mistake". The thing that amazes me is that she KNOWS when she's made a "mistake" and will hide after doing so - but she still has her little "mistakes". Unfortunately, she's soooo damn adorable that I have a hard time reprimanding her!!!

We're going to try the "time out" cage trick. It will be more painful for me than for her. The pee has gotten into the grout, stained it, and the room always smells bad. I'm bummed.

There are some excellent products out there that help with the stain and the odor! I didn't think it was possible! I have had to buy a lot over the years... I have a cat that has crystal problems which causes her to pee in my formal livingroom. I didn't think anything would help with the stains or the odor. A homemade solution that works great and is inexpensive (although try it in a spot first, because any of the stain removers could possible take the color out...although I haven't had any of them do this) is Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, and a few drops of dish soap. I also bought one that I really liked the smell called Out from Walmart. I have bought Hoovers, a couple from Petco, Nature's Miracle (my least favorite), and White Vinegar...it works but I hate the smell. You need to spray them on and leave them to dry. If the smell or stain is still there, spray on daily until they are gone. Don't give up!

| I really feel your pain!! my 3 are 4.5, 4 and 3.5 yr olds and still potty inside the house. It just takes one to make a mistake and the other 2 will follow suit. I regularly have to revert back to basics and start all over again. It works for about 2 to 3 months and then one will have an accident and it's down hill from their on. I also have a doggy door, they will use it when we're there but will not be clean when we're not. I have tried diapers, belly bands, crates and go knows what else, but no use. They just refuse to stay potty trained. So I have restricted them to the kitchen (baby gates) and have limited the clean up. yes yorkies are VERY HARD to train especially when they are hard headed...
