| Having puppies... Hi everyone, our Golden Retriever, Rose is in the process of having her puppies. She has been pushing for a little over an hour now..I was wondering if anyone knew how long she should push until it's not safe for her anymore. I know for smaller dogs, it's not good for them to be pushing more than an hour and a hlf to two hours. Please help!! Thanks

| THanks for answering! I called my vet, he gave me two shots of Oxytocin to try. I gave her the first shot and still no puppies. I will give her the second shot in about 10 minutes...after that she will probably have to have a c-section. I stuck my finger in the birth canal and all I felt was like a water balloon, not like a puppy...I will keep you updated..oh and no this is her second litter..she did fine her first..no problems. So I'm starting to worry...thanks again...

| wooo...we have a puppy. I was about ot give her another shot of oxytocin, but I checked her first and the puppy was hanging out. ONE LEG! So I had to get baby oil and gloves and pull the whole puppy out!! It's a little girl and she is doing fine!! Oh and she was breached!! Thats why she was having so much trouble!!! Hopefully the rest of the puppies will be head first!! Say a prayer!! Kelli

| Still only two girls...She's acting like she's finished..but two puppies for a Golden Retriever is strange. And going from 8 puppies from her last litter to just two is really weird...sooo we will see...

| Heyy!! It was a VERYYY long night for all of us. I gave her three shots of oxytocin...after that, I didn't want to give her anymore. So I waited until 5:30 am to call my vet..he said to be there @ 7...So we got there, he tried to feel her..he didnt feel anything, he did an ultrasound..still didn't see anything...and then he took an x-ray...two BIG babies up there in her ribs!!! So we had to do a C-Section...the first little girl he pulled out was already dead...she had been dead for over 24 Hours, that's why she couldn't push her out..bless her heart...and the second little girl was just as healthy and beautiful as her two sisters. Well when Rose started waking up she had a seizure...She's fine now...but I don't think we will be breeding her again...poor Momma!!

| It must have been a long night and morning for you. Glad all the puppies were finally born... one way or another.... Hope mom continues to do well with her new bundles of joy! Sorry you lost the one pup.
