| Help w/ New Yorkie Good Afternoon, My husband and I purchased our first Yorkie yesterday. He was born on 8/15/08 and his name is Tyson. I need help. How do I keep him from crying so much? Also, he's not eating much. i was instructed to give him 1/3 of wet food w/ three tablespoons of water and three tablespoons of syrup. When he came last night he licked the whole plate but today has been unsuccessful. Help?? Any ideas? |

| Well I'm not an expert, but it may just be because he's so new to you. I bet after a few days he'll settle in and cry less and eat more. When is he crying? Are you crating him, or is he crying while you hold him. How old is he and how big is he. You may need to get some nutrical to make sure his sugar stays up while he's not eating much. Good Luck! Yorkies are wonderful!

| He is crying when I put him in the crate. When he is out, he is jumping around playing with his toy or laying against my husband. His is 2 1/2 months. He is on nutrical, it was recommended when i took him with me. It's so hard to hear him cry and not go pick him up but I was told that was a big no no. |

| so are you giving him THREE TABLESPOONS of syrup in addition to the nutracal? That is way too much. If you are giving the Nutrical, you shouldn't be giving the syrup. Have you tried cooking him a chicken breast. Just boil it with no seasonings and give him a small amount. As far as crying in the crate, he will get used to it. I am more concerned with his diet. What kind of wet food are you giving him? he should be eating dry kibble. it is good for his teeth. You couldd mix it up with the wet for starters. You can also buy the baby food jars of chicken fingers. |

| Oh ya Riley LOVED the babyfood chicken fingers...and the babyfood meat in gereral,,,I know how you feel..but I think you are worrying too much....they do this when they go to their new homes...it seems to throw their whole system off...honestly he can go for a few days on nutri-cal alone...and water of corse...Riley was sick when we brought him home...so I did the nutri-cal baby food meat...and I went and picked up some puppy formula and gave it to him with a syringe...just so I knew he was getting something on his stomache...so I could monitor his poo..( I know yuck right)..a good tip for night time...wear a tee shirt ALL DAY, and put it in his bed or crate,(whatever your using) it will have your sent on it, and he will feel comforted. also I found that if I covered his crate so he couldnt see me that seemed to help. This is all normal,,give it about a week. and he will settle into a routine, and not feel so lost, oh ya make sure he has toys in his bed to keep him company. and give him something to do...and WHATEVER YOU DO. dont take him out or talk to him when he is crying,,,or he will keep doing it to get attention....you may have a few sleepless nights,,,but it will get better I promis.

| Awwwwww!!!!!!!!!!! How sweet! New baby Of course you are worried. Everything will be OK Sometimes I think we worry so much we stress our babies out, they feel what we do so I think probably if we are calm they are calm. I know how you feel when they cry but if you are planning on crating the baby at night, you'll have to be strong for just a few days. Paula Halle Brutis and Baby girls |
