| Is it possible to pee pad train a boy dog? The title pretty much says it all... Is it possible to pee pad train a boy dog? My 2 female dogs are paper trained, and I'm considering getting a male Yorkie puppy that needs to be rehomed. I just picture him trying to pee on the pee pad and hitting the wall... Any thoughts?

| Belly bands!! That is my first thought.. But, yes, you can train a male to papers but it isn't easy. I have my 2 intact studs and they wear belly bands but I know many people who have pad trained their boys. Neutering helps a lot.... |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey goes on pee pads with no problems, I'm not sure he lifts his leg for peeing in the house, I've never seen him. I know he's an avid leg lifter outside, but marking is different than peeing. For dogs who haven't been neutered I've read that some breeders use a water filled bleach bottle or large soda bottle in the center of the pad, and this works really well for them.

| I'm not sure if he's neutered now, but if he's not, I definitely plan on getting him neutered...

| Puddie was neutered when he was 5 months old. He's 14 months old now, and still squats. He goes outside when he gets the chance, and uses the piddle pad when he doesn't. |

| Tucker has been going on pee pads since the day I brought him home. He'll be 8 months old on Nov 1st. Never had a problem with him lifting his leg in the house. He kindda squats/lifts at the same time. He'll miss the pad once in awhile, hitting the edge, but does teriffic with his pee pads. So I'd say yes, it's possible to train boy Yorkies to go on pee pads. I still reward him with "Good Boy" and give him a Cherrio. |

| My Coco is 16mo. and neutered and uses the pee pee pad. Doesn't lift his leg at all. Just squats. I hope it stays that way. COCO PEBBLES |

| Hot Rod has used the pad ever since we've had him, he is 14 mos. He lifts his leg outside-just started that in the last couple of months. He wasn't using the pads for whatever reason until the weather got cold. I have only seen him squat on the pads. He was neutered at 6 1/2 mos.

| Brooklyn is pee pad trained. He occasionally lifts his leg outside but never inside.

Reggie's pee pad trained. I have never seen him cock his leg inside....and I hope I never do. He'd better hope so too.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | My males use pee pee pads in the house. We also have a doggie door so they can go out during the day. The boys both squat or sort-of semi lift their leg so they don't wet their coats. Abbi also lifts her leg on the potty pads. So yes, I think you can potty pad train a male. Ask the breeder to assist you, I pee pad train every puppy in the litter. |

I think everyone assumes yorkies are girls. I guess they all look female...similar to English bulldogs...those are all males, right?
