| Recuperating from surgery w/active pup Hi all. This is my first post and I'm in need of some advice. I just had double surgery and I'm in for 5 weeks of recovery. I have a three month old puppy who just came home yesterday and I'm at a loss as to how to decide she needs to go outside to do her business and when she just wants to go outside and play. I've taken her out four times in the past 30 minutes and she finally did something this last time. The problem is, every time I pick her up and set her down, it pulls on both surgical sites. I doubt it's doing any damage, but I gotta tell ya, it sure doesn't feel very good. Is there any hard and fast rule or even a guideline or two about how often a little one ought to be taken out so I know when I can ignore her, or if I can ignore her? I know how hard these little guys are to housebreak and I don't want to undo the progress that's been made so far in that department. Thanks again, Ladylaw..... |

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | welcome to YT...glad you found us! As far as housebreaking...the rule of thumb is to take them out when they wake up, after they eat and play and before bed...hope that helps! Btw can't wait to see pictures...hehe

| Recovering from surgery.... Actually, my sis sent me here. Starr is one of Bella's pups. I'm pretty sure there are pictures of her posted on here, including the picture of her birth. As soon as it doesn't hurt to sit here, I'll post some more - including some with her new big sister - my Sheltie, Libby. Thank you for answering me. That's will make it a lot easier than taking her out every hour on the hour. Naughty little thing...... |

| Sneaky little thing... And we think we're in charge... Well, back to the couch. Poor Starr, now she'll jump off the treadmill and run between my feet to the couch. Can anyone say "separation anxiety"? Both of my critters are going to be devastated when I go back to work 12/01. Thanks again for the tip. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome and I hope you have a quick recovery. Have you thought of training him to wee wee pads for now?

| Potty pads She's already very good with those, I'm just afraid I'd have to start all over. I had one at the back door a little earlier and she pottied on it. I don't know if she even bothered to bark, so I picked it up. I just feel like it's undoing everything that's been done. I'm afraid I'd really regret it. |
