| Anyone do a 5k with their Yorkie? I am signed up for a 5k this weekend. I have thought about taking Sam because he loves to walk/run. Today we walked/jogged 1.8 miles and fought me like a wild dog when I tried to pick him. Of course I won and carried him a stretch. I thought about bringing his stroller or borrowing a joggin stroller - just in case. Anyway, just thought I would see if anyone has done this.

| Moose, Mimi and I walk 3 miles twice a week with a friend and her two dogs. I say do it! He should be able to do it easily.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Do you think he could easily walk another 1-1/2 miles? Depending upon when the walk is to take place, you might want to increase his distance each time you walk. I would think unless you are certain you would use it, the stroller will be just be in the way. We walk usually a little over a mile each day, and Ruby takes her sweet time, while Reno wants to fly, so most days I end up carrying her part of the way

| I forgot to add.....Christy and I walk 3 miles and the pups are most of the time off their leash doing circles around us, sniffing here, going pee over there etc, etc!! so I know they are walking a lot further than us!!

| I have done several 5k walks with Lucy during the year for the past 3 years. She loves them & leads me all the way!! People say "look, that doggie is betting us" LOL!! Just don't forget to give them water along the way. I haven't taken Pebbles yet, but she loves walking with her sister

| Max did one with me last year, a Turkey Trot in my hometown. He had a blast and even got his picture on the front page of the paper with Yorkie Trot underneath . There is no reason not too especially if he doesn't get too hot and he's got some distance built up. Just make sure he drinks a lot of water!

| Walking 5k with my yorkie Hi. The posted comments are helping me to make decision with my yorkie. I live in Puerto Rico, it is hot and humid. The longest distance I have walked her is 1.7k. I am trying to increase the distance a little every time we walk. She walks/runs really fast and she enjoys it, but I am afraid of a heat stroke. That is what worries me. She is only 1 year old and very active. |
