| What information do I put on his ID tag?? My new baby boy is coming in less than 3 weeks! OMG! I have waited months for this moment. So I am in the process of buying things for him. I want to get him an ID tag for his collar just in case (God forbid) he gets lost. What information should I include on the ID tag?

| You should put your cell number and your address. Some people put their home number on there, but if he does get lost and you're out looking for him you won't be home to get a call. Maybe also his vet's name or office. Some people don't like to put the dogs name either, because they don't want the dog to think that the people who find him knows him. Personal choice, I guess. You might also want to put "REWARD" too because it might entice people to call you for cash. Hope this helps.

| Thank you! That does help! I will definitely add the REWARD part. I've read a lot on here about people losing their yorkies and so i will do my best to make sure he doesn't get out the front door. But just in case....I like the REWARD part. Thanks!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I put dog's name, home number, cell number and address. I know I've found dogs, called the number and got no answer and then realized the address was just a couple blocks away. I dropped them off in the yard and let the owner know via a message what I'd done. I've heard some people don't like to put address.

| If your dog is microchipped, you can also put that on the tag. But don't put the actual microchip number--that can be used by thieves to change the microchip registration, making it that much harder to get your dog back.

| Our girls each have a dbl-sided tag. It has their name & our cell numbers on one side; the back has their Home Again id # and the number to call. You never know if someone will have the right scanner so that's another easy way give out info. |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Darnit!!! I just bought Bella a tag yesterday! I put her name, my cell number, and "MICROCHIPPED" on it so that anyone who found her would know she has a chip (might be a deterrent to someone who is only tempted to keep her?) But NOW I see the great idea to put "REWARD!" on it too . Shoot, shoot!! I got it at a craft fair where a man had some very small purple bones (plus many other colors, shapes, and sizes) that he laser engraves. Oh well! I may decide to start over, or I may have REWARD added to the other side.....crud! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Wylie's tag is larger and can be engraved both sides, so I have his name, my Name, our address, both our cells - then "Reward!", "Needs Medication!", and "Microchipped". Marcel's is a slide-on tag and is smaller, so I have less info, but I do have "Reward!".

Donating YT 10K Club Member | A friend of mine argues with me over placing the dog's name on a tag, but unfortunately...it really doesn't matter if someone knows the dog's name...they are either compassionate enough to return your dog...or they are not.

| Despite being a dog lover, I didn't even know what microchipped really mean until this year. (we initially thought it was lojack for a dog!) Instead of putting the microchip company phone number on the tag, I wonder if it would make sense to put "MICROCHIPED" and then the vet phone number b/c a vet be able to scan. I think a lot of people don't know what microchipped means, and I worry that they will think it's like a GPS or something?

| There are some good options here. My two have "Please Help" on one side and my cell phone number on the other. The reasoning was that I'd be out looking for them, or perhaps I might lose them traveling. No name: I didn't want anyone having a "heads up" on "taming" them. No "Reward": I don't want to encourage someone to hold them (or even steal them!) for ransom. They will be rewarded, however. "Needs Medication" would be a goodie: it may lead someone to believe the dog has more problems than they're will to deal with, and get it back to you sooner. "Microchipped" isn't bad, either: it lets them know the dog is identifiable. Small dog tags are, well ... "small". There isn't much room for words, and you don't want the words too small to see. So the message has to be succinct. |

| Abby and Daisy's just have thier first and last name, our home and cell number on them, plus they wear thier rabies tag, so someone could get a hold of our vet, if need be.

| Thank you! Thank you everyone! There are a lot of wonderful suggestions here. I plan to get the name tag made this weekend. I've seen the 'real small' tags and thought they were cute. But now with all the info that should be put on them I will go for a little bit bigger one. I just don't want Bentley to be weighed down by his collar
