How do you get your furbabe to stay still??

My Buddy has been itching a bit.
I thought he may have ear mites, so I bought ear cleaning and ear mite treatment and preventative drops. I have to put 10 drops in each ear. Well that doesn't happen. Whenever I put the drops in, he shakes his head and I feel like they all come out!
My hubby will hold him and his harness and give him a chewy, but he still won't let me do it. I am supposed to massage the base of his ears after the drops go in. He lets me do that, cuz it is like petting him, but I don't know if any meds or the drops got in. Any advice on how to put drops in his ears successfully and any ideas on how to get them in quick enough so when he shakes his head, they don't come out? Thanks a bunch!

How old is buddy?
There are a few different things that can cause itchy ears, so it is important to go to the vet for a diagnosis. It could be mites but it could also be a yeast infection, some other type of infection or allergies.

The OTC medicines may not be as safe or effective as prescription either.

As for getting him to sit still, have fun with that.
All you can do is restrain and hold his head against something (floor, leg, etc.) until you get the drops in and massage them down.

Have you checked with a vet? I would never use anything that a vet hadn't recommended. You'll have better luck with eardrops if you place the container in a cup of hot water for about 10 minutes. The closer the drops are to body temperature the less noticeable they are when the go in the canal. Remember that drops are room temperature, and that could be 30 degrees lower than body temp, and feel very uncomfortable when it goes in.

Buddy is 2 year old. But I have only had him for 2 weeks.
I adopted him. And he is a dream dog. He is wonderful!

Anyways, the Vets at PetSmart recommended I try this for about 10 days first.
So I am gonna give it a whirl.

Try wrapping a towel are blanket around him with just his head sticking out.
That may work.
