| Settling down after play time My Samson likes to play from the moment I get home from work until we go to bed. I know he is just excited because we are home and I don't mind playing with him for most of the evening but I was wondering if there are any suggestions for getting him to calm down and maybe sit with me for a few minutes before bed. I'd just like to sit or lay with him for a little bit and have a little petting/snuggle time. Any ideas??? |

Gracie was this way for a very long time...she has just recently started to calm down and she is 6 mos old...don't get me wrong she would play 24 hours a day but if I ignore her for a little while she will snuggle up on the floor by me then i can pick her up and snuggle but i can't calm her down while I am holding her

| Well Mia is 3 years and 4 months and she's still wants to play from the moment we walk in the door until we go to bed. As soon as I get home from work, she's usually in her chair waiting for me to give her kisses. I can only give her about 3 kisses before she gets up and wants to go outside and play with rocks Once we're inside again, she wants to play with her toys. She'll bring you the toy and drop it at your feet. If you do not pick it up to throw it somewhere, she'll bark until you do. If we go to the park, then she can do all her running around for like a half hour, then she's pooped when we get home. Mia is just so full of energy, unbelievable !!!!!!!!! She never stops !!!

| Samson is 5 1/2 months. If I don't play with him or if I ignore him he usually sits there and barks or will sometimes play on his own. Sometimes I try to pick him up just to hold him but he gets squirmy and wants down. The only time I can pet him for a minute or two is when he thinks I'm putting him in his crate. Then he lays down on the couch and lets me rub his belly but that doesn't last long. |

| Ha-ha! Muffin played all of her life. Of course, the older years weren't as long-lasting as the younger years. If it wasn't too hot, I always took Muffin for a walk as soon as I got home. That was her favorite thing to do, besides going for rides and looking out. Now, I take Kacee for a looooooooonnnngggg walk as soon as I come home providing it isn't too hot. Walks seem to be her favorite thing, too. It also wears her down some, too, so I can get some other things done! Shelley, Kacee loves to go play with the rocks in my rock bed. She spends a lot of time there!

| Oh my God, Mia's not the only one that plays with rocks? She just goes nuts! As soon as I get home, she wants to go outside to play with them. Of course I don't allow her to take the rocks inside, so she drops them in the garage at the door going into the house. Last week I picked up like a dozen rocks from the garage.

| Of course, puppies are sooo playful, it does take awhile to slow them down. However, my Chloe never slowed, she'd do the same, bring a toy, drop it at my feet and bark until I played with her. I'd get so tired. Her favorite thing is to chase her ball/fetch to me for a piece of peeled apple. I think she could do that for two hours nonstop. I hate to admit it, my solution was to get another yorkie so I would not be so guilt ridden when I was too tired for play. Having a companion makes a big difference and Lacey was easier to train because she follows Chloe. I then fenced my backyard, which is 1/2 acre so they could run and run. I basically wear them out so by nightime they are as tired as I am. I make sure I'm outside with them, though, we have some pretty aggresive owls and hawks that could scoop up tiny Lacey in a second. I can say night night to Lacey and she cannot wait to get into her kennel, run right in and drops that cute little head on her blankey. Chloe, however, will run and hide under daddy's bed, she never wants to give it up. |
