| Telling a pups age??? Hi, I am a new "furbut" owner and do not know how old Squirt is. We rescued him last week. We were going bowling and he was walking on the grass alongside the road. We stopped to check on him and knocked at the house we thought he belonged to but no one would answer. And we've checked the paper, the spca and the local shelter and no one has claimed this baby Anyway, he weighs 10 lbs ( I know, fat) but we take him on our daily walks with us. He is 10 inches tall and 16 inches long. I think he is younger that 5 yrs but not sure. We've only had a cat who is now 2 years old (got him when he was 5 weeks old)-I've done a lot of speed reading on yorkies this week, but this topic eludes me. thanks for listening

| Most Vets. will tell you that after around age 2 it's almost impossible to know the correct age. A number of things come in to play such as diet and health care. Even when the bitch is pg., if she isn't getting the proper nutrients, then the puppy's won't have healthy puppy teeth and if the puppy doesn't get the proper food, then it will have unhealthy teeth as well, and then it's almost impossible to figure their age after 2.
