| Female going into Heat At what age do females normally go into heat for the first time? Sadie will be 6 months old next week and I think she is going into heat. I took her to my moms house today to play with her dachshund (who normally has very little to do with her but Sadie loves to play with him anyway) and he was VERY interested in her this time and wouldnt leave her alone! I picked right up on the fact that she might be in heat and we put her dog outside for our visit... Is 6 months normally when they go into heat or is she still too young? |

| no it could but too young to breed Quote:
She may be secreting a drainage but she is not old enough to breed until she is over 1 yr of age and it is said to be at her 2nd heat . If she is you will see her licking herself and may notice a drainage it will change to a red in color and she may rub her self on the floor. It can get messy if you don't keep your eyes on her. I made a mistake with my girls first heat and let her climb under my blankets like she likes to do and she left spots every where. I bought little pants for her. She doesn't like to wear them but it helps or I put her in her crate and she hates that more. | |

| Oh good. Im glad she isnt going into heat yet. I thought she might be too young but couldnt think of why else he would be so interested in her. Maybe I should get some pants for her to use when the time comes too! Thanks! |
