| What's the point..help me figure it out.. So what's the point of using a onesie for our babies when they get neutered or spayed? I know it keeps them from getting to their stitches, but then wouldn't you need to make a small hole for them to pee through? So wouldn't that make the use of a onesie pointless because even with a small hole they can reach their stitches? I'm just curious because as most of you know Coco is getting spayed on friday. I got her a premie onesie, which I would much rather use than an e-collar (even though she has a great one that Allison made her) because she doesn't like the e-collar and gets really distressed. I've even tried putting it on her 5 minutes a day so she can get used to it, and she is but it's too painful to watch her be so sad.

| I think you need to unsnap the onesie when it's time to potty... Let me tell you what I did when Esme was spayed. We actually had a birthday party for a chihuahua the week after Esme's surgery. Esme still had stiches but I didn't want her to miss it. I was also worried that another dog would accidently hurt her stiches, so this is what I did. I got one of those things you put on your arm when it's hurt or sprained. It's long and you wrap it around your arm or other body part. Anyhow, I cut a small section, loosely (loosely because if it's tight it will cut the circulation) tied it around Esme and tied it in a knot on her back. She was able to socialize with the other dogs (although I kept a VERY close eye on her) and her stiches were covered. Also, a snug tee shirt might do the trick too... Good Luck! Mari

| I used a onesie on Buddha and you just take it off when you take him potty. It is so much better than that ridiculous collar that just makes them more depressed and not feel good! |

| Well the thing is Coco is housetrained so I don't have to take her to the potty. She just goes on her own, and finds her pad to go potty. She will probably pee on her onesie and make it gross on her stitches. So I don't know. Mari I thought about covering her stitches up but did Esme heal ok? Many have said you can't cover it and it should breathe, was that not the case?

| I kept it covered until right up until the end. I was actually REALLY scared to have them out in the open. Maybe you could cover it while you are at work, and uncover it when you are home??? Esme healed perfectly. Actually when they first took the stiches out, she had a noticible scar, but now 2 months later it's all gone.

| Nobella, can you cut a hole at the bottom of the onsie where her privates are so she can potty with it on? I havent put onsies on my babies but I did put panties on Missy when she was in heat and Max used the panties to cover his stitches after neutering. The panties have a hole that is big enough for their tail to stick out and also so they can go potty.

| I can put a hole for her to go potty I just don't want her to reach her stitches, or worse miss and pee on her onsie and have the pee touch her sitches. Mari You are so lucky esme is done.

| I was wondering the same. Gucci was supposed to get spay tomorrow but I had to reschedule, next appt will be next month. Anyhow, I guess we can use a belly band to cover the stiches intead. I think withthe onesis you need to unsnap i t when is time to potty. Gucci is also housetrained and she goes on her own to the pad; so maybe a onesis is not good for her in this situation. Good luck Coco. I will have you in my prayers that everything goes well. |

| Everything will go GREAT with Coco! Trust me, I was a nervous wreck when I took Esme to get spayed. I even CRIED when it was time for me to hand her over. The first day was rough. She was tired and whimpered everytime I picked her up. She slept a lot and I felt like 'why did I do this to her?' BUT, she healed quick and went back to being herself! Trust me, it will be just fine!!!!!

| You may want to try to put a bandaid on the stich area that is what I had to do to my Brownie I had her spayed and that same night she bit off one of her stiches well I took her to the er vet (it was after hours) cause it was the middle stich well they could not help me without charging (250 which is more than I payed to have her spayed.)me arm and a leg , they wanted to put her back under just to do 1 stich I said no. what else can I do to help it heal and for her not to mess with the stiches he said put a bandaid on it, it worked great then I kept a teeshirt on her and in about a week it had healed great you couldnt even tell after a month it healed great. now cant even see anything not even scar. Hope this helps. Ps- just to let you know I put the bandaid on loose so it was still able to get air, but she just could not bite it and it helped with the stich she had removed by biting it.
