| Is it possible...... I am searching for my first Yorkie. Is it possible to get a perfect healthy baby for $1000 or less? Most I seem to see are for $1500 or more. I saw one once that was actually $8000 (maybe they put one to many zero's??). WOW!! I could get a really nice used car for that price. Just wanted some opinions. Thank you so much!! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | It is very possible to get one for less than $1000.00 just make sure to meet the breeder and both of the puppies parents to make sure you get what you want.

| Actually there are a lot of Yorkies out there for about $350 to $600... Well... maybe not really brand new puppies but adorable babies from the rescue organisations! When you go to Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. and do a search for 'Yorkie' and 'baby' you might find a poor little thing that needs a really good home. Those puppies are all health evaluated and up-to-date on the shots and already fixed... Last edited by Mitzis Mom; 10-03-2008 at 02:53 PM. |

| Yep! It's possible! The love you get back will be worth more than $1,000,000! (but there are some days they are so naughty I would take a $1 for each!) LOL

| alot of it depends on where you live.....that determines how much they might cost...in Mo where I got Daizy there were alot available....like others have already said ....it's very possible to get one under $1000... I got my Daizy for only $500.00 and she's perfect....and registered! (not that, that means a whole lot if your not going to breed...but some people just like to have the papers on their baby) I knew others that got their for $350!!! And their babies are precious but what's most important....is they are healthy! You just want to make sure you are allowed to go to their home or where they are raising the dogs to make sure it's not a puppy mill!! If anyone wants to meet you.....then that's a quick way to tell they're not a reputable breeder! Good luck!!!

| Our little girl is 8 weeks we just got, she is registered, we seen both parents, we paid $500. So yes its possilbe. You may also want to try Kijiji USA Free Classifieds - Post & Search Free Classified Ads and see if they have a site in your area & craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums Craigslist prohibits breeders to post but sometimes they do. There is a section under community for pets. Best of luck. My baby is so precious. |

| All great responses. Thanks!! I'm not really worried about papers. As I have no interest in breeding, or showing. I assume thats the only reason to need them? I just want a companion. I have looked on petfinder for my area, and most if not all will not be placed in homes with children. I have a 3 yr old son, and an 8 yr old daughter. Thanks all! |

| Keep looking! You will find that special one. I looked for one for years and found my Sam right here at YT. He was less than 1000 and is a healthy lil stinka. Other than being a spoiled rotten stinker... he is perfect!

| I agree, the larger yorkies are probabgly better for kids. Not to say that a child cannot be thaught to treat the dog gently. I have grandkids of all ages and they are fine with the dogs, but you want a dog that the child can run and play with, without havingf to worry about it getting hurt. And the 7+ pounders are probably much better for that. And the good thing about it is, the latrger ones are usually cheaper. Remember a gallon of milk weighs 8 pounds, so a 7 or 8 pound dog is still a small dog. |

| I have to say, my "larger" yorkie is much more fun with kids! Not only is he sturdy enough(16 lbs), he is not as timid and plays wonderful with all children... My hope is smaller(5.5 lbs) and she is very timid around anyone! You CAN find a baby for the price you want, if you look and are very careful who you find to buy from.. stick with YT! You will find what you are looking for. Good Luck! d

| I shopped around and found Sadie in another city but in California. She was $800 with papers. They're out there but I had to search around to find a good breeder. |

| I got trixie for 500, plus I gave her money for the trouble of bringing her to my house. But I think the reason why I got her like that is because she was left behind in order to have puppies, but she was to small, and they desided to sell her as a pet. That is just what I thought, it happened. I think she is just perfect. Noone believes that is all I paid for her. She is very healthy, has her papers, and her coat is very silky.
