| Digging: Why do Yorkies dig Maxwell's done it again He's dug up one of my gardens and made a mess on the steps with the mulch Why do terriers dig~? Are they mad at you when they dig~? I let him out this am and went back to sleep for the moments I could. I guess I didn't answer the door quick enough when he knock (yes, he knocks on the window to come in and rings a bell when he wants to go out) |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | There some good dog smells in those holes...that's why. Actually it probably goes back to what they were breed for. Hunting rodents....and rodents have burrows. We live on the water and have muskrats. They have tunnels down at the water front...occassionally Ramsey will smell where a muskrat has recently been...and she's done her hardest to dig one up. Fortunately muskrat's must tunnel pretty far down...

| MINE dig to get at the Pomeranians who are barking at them from the other yard . Bella is amazing! she goes head down, front feet a-diggin' - and she digs so fast there's a "rooster tail" of dirt flying out from under her! Our "dirt" is soft, sand-like, so it makes it easier. She started a hole by the foundation of the house. When I found her, she was so deep that when I called her name, she popped up out of the hole like a meercat! Rather humerous, if truth be told |

| Ella pretend "burries" bones that I give her that she doesn't want at the moment. It's the funniest thing!!! I love watching her try to find a place in the house and then use her nose to try to cover it as if the carpet was dirt... |

| oh i have a digging story for you. so we're doing some work to our inground pool so there is a pile of sand on that side of the yard near the pool. saturday morning when i woke up for work i let Bentley out likke i normally do while i get ready. But when i went to the door to call him in he didnt respond. and naturally i got nervous because because usually he comes bounding up the stairs like a bat out of hell. So i went out to look for him. i walked over to the deck railing and looked around. and there he was. on the pile of sand. and had pretty much dug to the middle of it. so i went down and shouted "Bentley! what are you doing!" and he popped out of the hole, and looked at me...and he was COVERED and when i say covered i mean his snout, his head everything had sand caked on it. and it didnt help that it had been raining all day the previous day and all night, and was still sprinking. oh man it was bad. and if he wasnt so damn cute i would have been even more mad. ugh i should have taken a picture but i was running late for work. lol it was priceless.

| Kimbo is an indoor fella, but that doesn't stop the digging instinct. As soon as he gets sleepy, he digs at his crate pillow for 2 or 3 minutes and then falls fast asleep. It's the funniest thing to watch! Even if he decides to take a quick snooze in a lap, he digs at us and then curls up to go to sleep. |

| Roscoe digs all over the yard if I leave him out too long. It's fenced in and he loves to play out there. Now he is digging out our rock flower beds!! Rock!!! I wish my husband was as patient as I am.

YT 1000 Club Member | I have a cure for digging! My brothers dogs kept digging and I tried his idea on my grand-dogs and Roxie. When they dig a hole, get a shovel full their poop and fill in the hole. Then cover it up with dirt. They will not dig in that spot again!

| Astra start digging hole in the back yard the day I got her. And a lots of them!!! She was only 3 months but the little devil dig like 1sq feet deep holes! It took like a month of constant training ( a firm and loud "hey" when she start digging) but she got it and stop. She is not digging at all this summer. They aren't perfect after all.. but I think they are really close to. |

| Who knows why they do it? Keegan & Clarence take pride in their nails & would NOT think of doing something so common. On the other hand...Sophie can make a rooster tail 3-4 feet high! AND is proud of it!! |
