| How much should they eat? I was wondering what is a normal amount for my little one to be eating? She is 9wks old and 1.6lbs. She eats the Science Diet puppy bites, but to me I don't think she eats enough. The bag says about 1/2 cup a day for 2lbs but she eats no where near that. She only eats about 10 little bites, (takes one out goes somewhere else, eats it and then comes to get another one) at a time and sometimes I have to give it to her myself from my hand before she will eat. We do this maybe 3 or 4 times a day and that is all she will eat. Is this normal??

| I've been wondering the same thing, but I have the opposite problem. I can't get my boy to stop eating he's 13 weeks old and we feed him right around a 1/2 a day split over 3 meals. He doesn't look heavy or thin, but constantly wants more food. I would be very interested to hear what some of the experts have to say. Sorry Ciera's mom that i have no advice for you. I can tell you my little guy would take food elsewhere and eat it until he was 8 or 9 weeks old. i think it was because his morals weren't fully formed and had a hard time eating it. Now that they are he has no trouble wolfing it down. I've read about a lot of people having trouble getting the smaller yorkies to eat well. My little guy is about 6 lbs (so he's not all that little)

| I think she is doing fine, I remember Tinkerbell only ate that much, if that, she didn't look thin, so I didn't worry too much. At 7 months, she still doesn't eat a 1/2 cup a day and she is not underweight. Just make sure she eats a little throughout the day as to prevent hypoglycemia. I used to keep a little food in my pocket if we went somewhere so I could feed her a few bites while we were out. |
