| Preslee has an ear infection!! I had to take Preslee to the emergency vet this morn. SHe has an ear infection and they gave me some drops to put in it. ANyone know of anything else that I can do for her to make it more comfortable?? REcon keeps licking it and the vet said that its good because he is cleaning it but the poor babys head is all wet from Recon licking it. Im gonna try to get some pics of them later if I can get my camera to work. Any advice on making her a little more comfortable would be great. Thanks all. |

| I'm sorry to hear about the ear infection! Bella had one when she was a puppy and it was painful to see her go through it. We got drops for it as well as ear cleaner from the vet. Another thing that might help was that we put a e-collar on her so that she wouldnt constently itch it. The first night, she was scratching it so much that her left ear when flopped! Hopefully the meds will kick in soon and help.

Awwwwe, the poor little thing! You may want to ask your vet if the med is poisonous if ingested being that Recon is eating it. Usually it is. Please call the vet asap and ask. If it is, go with the e collar and seperate them no matter how hard it makes it for everyone involved. Hope she heals super quickly! | |

| Awww, Preslee, I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well! I've had a ton of ear infections (used to be on swim team) and I know they're miserable. I wish I had any advice for your mommy but I don't. What were the signs that you knew that she may have an ear infection?

| Awww poor Preslee. Hallie gets ear infections sometimes and I give her drops but I have also held a warm washcloth to her ear and she really likes that. The vet said it is soothing to an itchy, hurting ear. I hope she feels better soon. |

| She kept scratching at her ear last night, then when I finally went to bed she kept rubbing it against me. SO I rubbed her ear and she squealed a little. So this morning I checked it out and she yelped when I touched it. I too have had a ton of ear infections due to swimming. They SUCK!!! |

| You know what? Read the little informational leaflet that came with the med. My vet sold me ear med. to give to Tiah when she was pregnant. I read the info. inside the box and it said NEVER give to a pregnant or nursing dog becuae it could cause early labor, death to pups, deformed forelegs, and cleft palate. So I brought up the name of the med. online and it started out with NEVER give to pregnant or nursing ...... I'm just saying that sometimes the vets will say it is ok when really it isn't. |

| Here's an old home remedy that I've used on my kids (human ones) and I don't know if it'll help, but maybe worth a try...Warm hydrogen peroxide in a shot glass placed in a cup of hot water. Soak it up with a cotton ball and squeeze into the ear. The warmth and the bubbling seem to relieve the pressure and itching. When the bubbling stops wipe it out with a dry cotton ball and follow with the medicated drops. |

| I have been gating Preslee off in the computer room when she gets her meds. I dont let Recon near her until I know that the meds have soaked in and I always wipe the excess off around the ear. |

| What Medication did they prescribe for her and what type of ear infection is it? I know when Sedrick had an ear infection they diagnosed it as a "yeast" infection because there was too much warmth inside the ear. Besides being put on drops, We were told to allow is ears to "breathe" by flipping them back and also to pluck the tiny hairs inside the ear canal. He was prone to ear infections for the 8 weeks he was in his neck cast and now that he is out of the cast we take preventive measures by keeping the ear canal free of the tiny hairs and using an ear wash once a week. Hope this helps Lorraine |

| They gave me Tresaderm for her ears. They didn't say what kinda ear infection it was just to keep the ear canal free of hairs which I already do. About 2 minutes after I got to the vet they had a dog come in that had been hit by a car so things were kinda rushed. I completely understand. I actually told the doc just give me the meds and Im outta here. SO that he could attend to that poor dog. |
