I'm not a moderator or anything, but I don't think that's really a nice thing you just did. You signed up with this board, and your very first post is to promote your own board which has a similar theme as this one. In other words, the goal is to shift people from this site to yours, by using the public nature of this very forum. Isn't that spam? Something just doesn't seem right about that. But maybe I'm in the minority on this one...

At first I got offended when I read your post MikeM, but you are right. I don't want to cause hard feelings - it's just that I'm new at this and was really excited about it. Again, sorry.

chrstna, please don't take offense. In fact, I'm not a moderator here or anything, and maybe I'm the one who's jumping the gun. It's just that I think it would be different if you were a member here for a while with a few posts under your belt before passing along some info like that, rather than someone who posts their very first message as an ad for a competing message board. I really like YorkieTalk.com, and I'd just like to see this forum grow, and an ad essentially diverting people away from this forum just didn't sit well with me. Again, that's just my opinion as a user here (not a moderator or anything), so please don't let that stop you from enjoying this board.

| Thanks, Mike! That's what I thought but wasn't sure quite how to put it!

Well, I am a moderator here, but it seems like everything got straightened out before the Admin or I saw the original post. Of course, the Admin has the final say on things! But on a positive note, this thread shows we all have one thing in common...the love of our Yorkies and how enthused we can become over them, which is really what this site is about. We all love Yorkies here, but before posting links for sites that bear likeness to Yorkietalk.com, please ask the admin before doing so. Thanks.

Wow!! I may be crazy here but....I see nothing wrong with posting a new forum site here....we are all here to learn about yorkies and I myself post on several forums and have mentioned this forum to other forums. ( and know of a few that have joined here)I go to other forums because not all topics or answers are the same on each and I just want to learn as much as I can about yorkies. I don't think Christina met any harm. But JMO Sandra

You're not crazy, again, I said before, maybe I'm the one who's in the minority here. I didn't mean anything personal to chrstna at all, and I can't stress enough how I'm just a member here, not an admin/moderator, so maybe I'm just blowing hot air. I don't think the point I was trying to make was that you shouldn't discuss other Yorkie boards. That's a good thing to discuss! In fact, if it was anyone except a new user making their first post here in that fashion, I wouldn't think anything of it. I think what just didn't sit well with me was a brand new user making their first post which was an ad essentially saying, "Check out my board" and it just seemed unfair to the admins here who work hard trying to make YorkieTalk grow. Again, please don't take take offense chrstna, and the mere fact that you're posting multiple messages as replies to this thread tells me that you must be sincere as a user here, and please don't let my babbling stop you in any way. Welcome!!

I totally have no other intentions than being sincere here. I post on a couple other Yorkie boards, and it just seemed like a great way to get the word out about mine. If you don't mind me asking, could you give me suggestions about other ways to go about promoting my site, without infringing upon ones I already post on? (Like I said, I'm new at this!)

It's a good question. I would suggest always just asking the Admin first if it's ok to post a message promoting your board, and then abiding by the Admin's answer. If they say it's fine, then go for it! I'm actually the Admin of a totally unrelated forum to YorkieTalk, (it's a DVD review site) and since I like YorkieTalk, I encouraged Fasteddie to post a quick note about his board on my site. In fact, if you Admins hit it off then maybe the two of you can swap ideas, user notices, banners, etc. and it becomes more of a community thing as opposed to just a somewhat anonymous plug. This way, it's just good karma all around.

Yes, chrstna, feel free to put your site in your User Details and the like. While we aren't anti-other Yorkie forums, we do not feel it's appropriate to create a new thread hyping up another Yorkie board. Thank you for your understanding. MikeM and Junebug, thank you for the kind words and actions. They are appreciated! Thread is now closed...
