| I'm so sorry about your baby. I'm sure she's adorable even if her hair is a bit messed up. The good news ....It's hair; it'll grow back. You can probably bring her to a small grooming shop and get her groomed beautifully. Last edited by AMD; 09-11-2008 at 12:49 PM. |

| UGGGH!!! I feel your pain! I took Lucy to Petsmart last October and she came out looking like she had been run over with a lawn mower as well. I asked for a puppy cut that was not too short and they shaved her and then left long chunks all over. Each side of her face was uneven by about 2 inches and they cut off part of her top knot!!! Her hair grows soooo slow too. She still has hairs that don't fit into her top knot yet and it has been almost a year! I took her back and another girl evened her out the best she could considering the poor baby was shaved. I don't think they even bothered to trim her nails. I have avoided getting her groomed since then, just snipping her bottom and around her eyes since then. My uncle's gf is a dog groomer and I had planned on taking her there but I have this grooming phobia now. And it certainly is a little more complicated if someone you KNOW messes up the cut. SO the other day it started by snipping the hairs around her eyes and then I just started cutting away. And she looks pretty darn good. 100x better than the $50 job I paid petsmart to do! Now it was a LONG process bc I wanted it to look good, but it was well worth it! If you want something done right, do it yourself!

| I just used shears and cut in thin layers, a little at a time so it wouldn't be choppy. If Jo Schmo can do it, so can I hahaha

| About Paying $$$ Quote:
I would call the Manager of the store and tell him what happened and then tell him that in your haiste to leave the store you forgot to pay. I would tell him that you will be happy to pay asa they hire a professional dog groomer to do a good job. If you don't let the Mgr. know think of what your city will look like!! All those poor lawn mowered pups!

OMG We just had a simular experience with Petsmart, they are the worst! We vowed to not take Milo there any more! They cut him so uneven he looks worse now than he did when he needed a cut! Then they charged an extra $12 saying that they had to charge extra for bad behavior. Im like, how hard is it to cut a 3.5 pound Yorkie's hair? He is always very calm when I, or his Daddy, or when we used to take to the groomers but our old home. Im done with them too!

| I have said this before and I will say it agian~Petsmart groomers are the equivalant of Fantastic Sam or any other cheap human hair salon. Their are more bad Petsmart and Petco grooming nightmares on here.

At our old house Milo went to a different petsmart for groomer. The same girl, lacy, would always did his hair and she was so nice. He sports a Mohawk a lot of the times because he does juicy fragrance modeling in the mall a lot, and she would always make it look perfect and even put a little gel in there for me. We never got charged extra for "bad behavior" lol and now this. So you are right, as a whole Petsmarts are probably horrible, we just got tricked with a good one, lol

| It's not only Petsmart. Watch out for Petco too. I called and made Daisy an appointment for a trim. She has a nice long coat and I just wanted it cleaned up a little. Following the advice of YTers I brought in pics of how I wanted her trimmed. I showed them to the gal at the counter who called a groomer over. I requested that she be scissor cut. After going through the pics the groomer informed me that they do not use scissors at any Petco and that she would be shaved. I told her no way, picked my Daisy up and left with her. I am so glad I followed the advice on the boards here. I could only imagine what would have happened if I just dropped her off for the trim and came back to find her shaved down. It would have been a long night in jail for me!

| I will not take General Lee back to PetSmart either. They want way to much for a lousy job and the groomers were talking bad about some of the dogs and arguing among them selfs. Now, in Los Angeles I had a mixed breed who was very sick and the vet told me to keep her stress level down. The groomer I had been taking her to sometimes took 6 hours! I found a lady at a PetSmart who specialized in older sick dogs and did a wonderful job. She would do the sick dogs early before the store opened and took no more than one and a half hours. When I came it to tell her we had to put Sheila down, she cried. I wish that type of person was at every PetSmart. I now have a private groomer and she lives down the street. General Lee loves her so much he wants to stop at her house whenever we walk by. |

| I own a grooming shop and this is what my customers tell me.... At a large chain store the groomers are getting paid if they do a good job or not, so alot of them just don't care. I own my store, so if I want to keep my good reputation (and my clients), I have to do a good job. Plus I really love my work! I would recomend trying a small locally owned shop before I gave up on groomers completely!!! I hope your baby's hair grows back quickly!
