| Ear hurting Callie went to the vet monday and got an update on two of the four shots she needed and I told the vet how callie has been rubbing her ear a lot and making not like full cries but little tiny hard to hear cries ocasionaly when doing it and she looked in her ear with two different things and then used a q-tip to clean it and see if there was anything unusual on the q-tip and there wasn't so she suggested that I get some ear cleaner and clean then but Im afraid to putt a drop of the ear clean in her ear if they already hurt! She goes back next monday for the other two shots should I go ahead and try a cleaner (if so which one is the best) or should I just wait and tell the vet on monday that there r still hurting? She is really grumpy like its hurting but I donno what to do! Any suggestions?

| If the vet wanted you to use cleaner, they should've sold it to you or recommended a brand. Ellie's vet sells Chlorhexiderm Flush, so that is what I use. I'm not sure why her ear would hurt though with no infection or scabs.

| Any thoughts about getting a second vet to have a look? Ear cleaning fluid is great but if there is an infection she needs drops. JL |

| I'm afraid that just cleaning the ear will not stop the pain. It's evident that she has an ear infection and hopefully it doesn't have to get so bad that her ear is swollen and red before the Vet. gives her some meds. Well, I'm pretty outspoken, and am a real mother lion when it comes to my babies, so if I had a Vet. that didn't do a darn thing to get to the root of the problem after saying how she was in pain, well honey I'd be letting them know how I felt about their uneducated response and would never go back. I'd be getting my baby into a emergency hospital then doing some massive inquiry's on finding a really great Vet. Please take care of that little one of yours. She needs you to go to bat for her.

| I'm in the process of finding a new vet also... I've just been asking friends with small breed dogs who they recommend. Then I ask the vet some questions to make sure they will treat us better than our last one. Also, I think rubbing their but on the floor means they need their anal glands expressed, I don't think that is related to the ear. Best of luck to you!
