| It's a cut that mimics what your dog looked like as a puppy. I don't plan on letting Oscar's hair grow since I don't have the time for intensive grooming every day, so I'm going to keep him in a puppy cut. It's that relatively short-all-over fluffy look.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think it's a misconception that longer haired dogs need more grooming time per day. Whether a dog's hair is short or long. he needs daily brushing and combing to ensure that there are no tangles or mats. Long hair is only tedious if the dog has a cotton coat, silky hair coats hardly take a minute to brush and comb. Just because a dog has short hair, don't overlook the daily brushing and combing, because these dogs can develop serious matting problems. Joey never mats, and he rarely has tangles, bushing and combing time is fast. It does take more time to do the topknot of course, and drying time after a bath is longer than with a short coat.

| Very true ... I suppose I should have clarified - Oscar's cotton-ish coat is enough work as it is, and takes me 20 minutes or so a day to keep him properly groomed. I know every dog's coat is different, but it would be a nightmare for me if it got any longer. We're outside a lot, and the weather is pretty crappy on a regular basis. The idea of him frolicking through the mud in a long coat gives me the shudders. Plus, the puppy coat is extremely cute.

| A "puppy cut" means different things to different people. Some people think of a puppy cut as about 1 inch long all over, some think of it as pretty much shaved all over. I am a groomer, and when people come in and ask for a "puppy cut" I make sure I get a specific length!!!
