| IF you would like to fight puppymills: If you would like to fight puppymills: Great general website with good resources on puppymills: http://www.yorkielane.com/stoppuppymills.htm Senate House Committee on Agriculture http://agriculture.house.gov/ Facts on puppymills: http://www.canismajor.com/dog/puppymil.html Companion Animal Protection Society (against pet shops and puppy mills) http://www.caps-web.org/4_3membership.htm No Puppymills Dot Com Very active webforum with hundreds of members and thousands of posts: http://www.nopuppymills.com/ The United State Department of Agriculture Animal Care Program (please do NOT write to the EPA – the US Environmental Protection Agency – they don’t have control (jurisdiction) over domestic animal abuse issues): http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ac/ USDA Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC) http://www.nal.usda.gov/awic/ The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer Also PLEASE follow legislation on puppymills! There is a bill currently in the Senate called “PAWS” and a lot of controversy concerning it. Read it, get to understand it and decide whether it is a good or bad piece of legislation. The best way to help puppymill dogs is to shape the law into something that is workable but also protects the interest and welfare of dogs. By contacting your local representatives, you can put pressure on government to see that such laws are introduced and voted on. To find out who you are local representatives are visit this link: http://www.vote-smart.org/ You can also find voting records so you can find out who is supporting “puppymill legislation and who isn’t.” go to the website of these officials and look at their press releases too! Education is the best armament in any battle! |

| If you would like to track legislation Here's a good source - they actually help you monitor where a bill is and provide both house and senate trecking (the House has THOMAS which is a search engine of currently introduced bills as well but I think this service is a bit more user friendly): http://www.govtrack.us/ |

| As I write this, there is google click ad on the top of the page that says "Yorkshire Terrier puppies: Discount Yorkshire Terrier Puppies. . . " It's important to follow what happens with "PAWS" very closely. This is the first time AKC has ever put its name behind a piece of breeding legislation. |

| Hello yorkipower, I usually don't post too much here or on forums in general (usually someone always says what I want to say before I can get a chance ). But, I saw your post on another forum (nopuppymills.com) and found it a little offensive. This is a forum about yorkies, not puppy mills. The way that I fight puppy mills is by not buying anything from a pet store that sells puppies and to inform anyone I meet to do the same. Can I do more? Probably... But, the time that I am not at work I am spending with my pets. I know I should go to the shelter and volunteer my time but I really don't have the nerve to do it, I usually leave in tears. I do enjoy this forum, everyone is very considerate of others opinions. On other forums people are more outspoken about their opinions but I enjoy them also. But, I really don't see the need to bad mouth people to another forum because you do not agree. Especially about this forum...everyone is so respectful and helpful. I am not trying to cause trouble but I found it disturbing that you would call people on this forum nuts because you didn't get the reply to your thread that you were looking for. Very Respectfully

| As for your comment about whether or not a post about puppmyills is appropriate on YT, I leave that up to the administrator to decide. I put this up for the people on this forum who have shown a genuine interest in this issue. You have the prerogative to read it or not, just as you can choose to read or not read any other post. I have PMed you, privately responding to some of the accusations you made in this public forum. If people on YT are always nice and appropriate, then they also don’t start posts with “I am not starting a fight with you.” I am afraid that this will now become yet another thread that the admin will want to lock because of all the “nice” responses that will be posted here, thereby detracting from the original message. So sad. |

| I didn't say "I am not starting a fight with you". All I said is I am not trying to cause trouble which was not my intention. As far as making accusations...the definition is a statement saying that someone has done something morally wrong, illegal or unkind...I thought want you did was unkind. I'm terribly sorry to everyone on this forum if anyone is angry at what I said.
