| Second Puppy? Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I am absolutley IN LOVE WITH my very first Yorkie, Sadie, who is now almost six months old. I didn't know any better at the time so I purchased her a pet store (please don't judge!!! will never do it again). I just knew I always wanted a Yorkie and she was there looking so sad and messy. She is not the prettiest dog (but of course she is to me). Her coat is kind of sparse and she doesn't have the Yorkie pixie look. Anyway...the point is, she has turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. She trained in no time, has never chewed on anything but her toys and is so sweet-natured and affectionate. I would love to bring home another puppy (this time from a reputable breeder) because Sadie loves other dogs so much and I think she must be lonely while I am at work all day. I'm not sure if it's a good idea because altho I work five minutes from home, I am gone all day and the puppy would be alone with Sadie until the kids got home from school around 3:30. I thought I would gate them in the kitchen and only crate them at night (Sadie is crate-trained all day). Is this a good idea or would it not be fair to the puppy? I know Sadie would be so happy and we would love another, but I was able to stay home for 6 weeks and train Sadie and I don't have that luxury now. |
