| Second thoughts on getting another yorkie I am feeling bad having second thoughts on getting our Yorkie. I know how much work they are to potty train. She also cried so much at first, trying to get use to her new home. We about all went crazy at night. Summer is so lonely without our pom and know that I want another one, but having second thoughts. It is also going to be cold outside, so I will have to pad train her, where Summer was out door trained. I hope I am not the only one that has had these feelings. I know there are alot of you that have several yorkies. I know they are work , but they are well worth it........Any words of encouragement??????

| Im sure Summer would love a playmate. I have 2 and I really dont think having 2 is any harder than having 1. Yes you will go through the puppy stage but it will pass. And I have one that is pad trained and one that is outside trained. It is more of a committment but in return you get lots of love

| I thought the same about getting another puppy, but I did and it was the best thing I did for Chelsea and me, the training is a little easier, because DaisiMae follows Chelsea. Chelsea goes on her pee pad and DaisiMae watches then she will go too...

Missing Yoshi Everyday! Donating Member | i am sure a lot of the members will say go for it...like myself...but if you are not ready for another one i wouldn't want you to rush into it until you feel its the right time...no 2 situation is ever the same...so go with your heart and instincts...hope that helps!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 4 and had always only had 1 at a time until 3 years ago. I no longer work and I was ready for the extra work and love!! I always stress when getting a new puppy but it soon goes away. You will know when the time is right.

| Listen, when I got Rickles he was already 3 years old and I was his sixth owner and he chased my cats and I cried all weekend the first weekend I got him (first yorkie I had ever had and the first dog I had since the seventies) Well, I used the spray bottle and got him to leave the cats alone and for the first month I was having seconds thoughts but that was 5 years ago and I would walk through fire before I would let anything happen to him. A year ago I got a yorkie puppy and for awhile I had second thoughts about him and now I couldn't do without him and he loves Rickles to death. The real kicker is when I was talked into taking on a 9 month old yorkiepoo from the shelter and you guessed it I had second thoughts about him but the three of them are great together. I have finally said that's it but there are probably more people than you think that have second thoughts at the very beginning when things are rocky. I hate to admit this but all three of mine have an accident every once in awhile. Not often but it does happen. The thing that happens a little more often is when they are on the pad and go off the pad. That could happen to anyone though but they give me so much love and I don't have any skin kids so they are my babies. What is really cute is when I pull up after work and there at my bay window are all these little faces and you can't tell the dogs from the cats. I love that. |

| I say,,,, you are having second thoughts ,, bothering you enough to voice on YT,, then go with your instincts,, those "second thoughts" and wait until you KNOW you want to care for another furry little life! when i got Cricket I wanted ONE Yorkie,, just one,, rotten little tiny baby!! then hubby decided HE wanted one for himself,, of course I get to care for her 24 7,, house break,, and she had problems at first,, but i never had second thoughts,, or third or fourth!!!!! LOL,, love all my girls,, they are all different,, and all much loved and wanted!!

| Aww I remember those days when I got Phoebe my hubby and I had cats for like 13 years and what a different, I remember crying and saying to myself God what I have done, this is hard specially Phoebe she was so active and crazy but look at me now , this too shall pass but I have to be extremely honest with you one is so easy you can take your -furbabi every where, I do take mine all three but is not as easy I just think, for me all three go or not, if I'm in town and need to do somenthing really quick and I'm by myself I take one but usually all three go with us everywhere and is not that easy thank God for pet strollers |

| I think it's a matter on how much time and energy (not to mention money) you have. When I got Zada she went everywhere with me, even places where she wasn't supposed to go. (like PANAMA69 said, "thank goodness for strollers"). Things were really simple and easy. Then like you, I felt she needed a best "bud", so we got her first cousin Azrael. I wasn't aware that the running around with two would be just a bit more work, but I soon learned to handle things with no problems. Bath and grooming time was a bit more work and so on. I thought that would be IT till I saw my baby Razael's picture on YT and that was it. I do not in any way regret getting her, but I do feel guilty that all three don't get to go with me as much as just having one or two. Fact is, I don't take all three shopping without my husband along. Reason being, I'm afraid they may all three get dog napped at once since the temptation would be big money signs in a thief's eyes, and next, they are too cramped in the stroller and I haven't found one that's big enough to keep them from being too cramped in. Soooo, now I usually take the baby when I go because she's the youngest and needs all the socializing she can get, just like I did with Zada and Azrael. It works great with three, but it takes some different adjustments for everyone. I dearly love my little pack of three!!!

| I bet Summer would love a friend! And a tip I received from a family member about potty in the winter. Get a piece of wood, lay it over the spot you want them to go, that way there is no frost, snow, or anything on that spot when you lift it off the grass for them to go! Place it back and you're good to go til the next time. Brilliant!

| I am sure your baby would love to have a playmate, a little sister or brother. you need to do it when your ready.if your not really ready then Id wait. I have two and their great together. twos no harder then one unless we go some where. But I dont feel half as bad as leaving them when i do have to, because they have each other. but do it when you feel its right. |

| I went through the same thoughts as you.....it is normal. I was all excited for my first pup to have a friend and when he arrived he was absolutely precious but my goodness....the work, the training, the adjustment period for me, for the new pup, for my first pup, & for my cat. I got really frustrated and questioned whether I had done the right thing....it was so simple and so easy with one. I would say it was a rough first 3-4 weeks....then it slowly got better and better. He learned, at a different pace then my other pup but he learned and he is still learning. Now, I can't imagine my life without him and neither could my other pets. They love him as much as I do and I know I did the right thing but just like anything....it's an adjustment and it takes time and patience....LOTS of it. I'm so glad they have each other when I can't take them with me, it is so comforting. And it is one more little someone to love and snuggle on.....I love them all so much....my family wasn't complete until he arrived. If you truly want another pup, if you really really do.....they I say go for it. You won't be sorry. You will get frustrated and lose sleep and be cleaning up lots of pee and poo but after a few weeks it will get easier and you will be so happy you did. The puppy stage doesn't last forever. Good Luck and let us know what you decide.

| 2 is better than 1 brooklyn was our first yorkie and we spoiled her rotten. we had her flown in from mississippi when she was 3 months old. last month we got her a sister bella who was just 8 weeks old when we got her.bella is almost potty trained already. she does everything that brooklln does. brooklyn is a very good teacher. they play all day long and they do not like to be seperated. brooklyn or bella never cried at nite from the day we had them. just put the crate in your bedroom so they can see you and they should sleep all nite> if we could get 2 anyone can. good luck terryy |
