| Question about Pet Silk top knot gel? I got my top knot gel yesterday. I used it to put up Cooper's top knot and it worked pretty good keeping the strays out of the way but it is VVVEEERRRYY Thick.. Is it suppose to be? I found it quite hard to work with. I didn't use very much at all, almost like a "pomade" we would use in our own hair for certain styles. My question is.. Today his hair is really stringy looking on his head. I tried to brush it to get it out but it didn't really help. I don't have any dry shampoo for pets but if I did I would have used some of that. My arthritis is bad today and I couldn't hold him long enough to give him a bath. I will try tomorrow. ANy suggestions? Honest. I didn't use much at all. I am really thinking he needs to be trimmed but I have read so many horror stories I am going to have to take him and ask my dad to help me. Thanks in advance for the replys

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi, I just bought some of the gel too, and wow...it is some THICK stuff! I did the same thing you did, I didn't think I used much, but Darcy looked all stringy with it. The next day, I took her topknot out and re-combed everything and put it back up, and it seemed to help. I don't know if some of it was absorbed by her hair, or she rubbed it off on the carpet! Anyhow, the second day, after recombing, I noticed how neat she looked. Husband even asked if I had trimmed around her eyebrows and face because it was so smooth. This stuff REALLY works if you use the correct amount. Now that I have used it a few times, I just open the jar and just TOUCH the gel with my ring and middle finger, just barely touch it, and just that little dab is all you need! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yes I agree, just a tiny bit on the finger, I blot some of it away even before putting it on the forehead, or stay hairs. You don't use it on the entire topknot, just the stay hairs. I have a toothbrush I use to brush that area, and it helps distribute the gel where needed.

| I have been using it for about 2 months. I barely touch my finger to the gel because a little goes a really long way. I normally take her top knot down every night and I have noticed that it keeps all the little fly aways under control. I am really pleased with it.

| I just love this place you are all so full of fun and information. I am sitting here thinking that at least I am not alone... I am glad to hear about the toothbrush idea that sounds like a great idea. Thanks Nancy for that tip. Yes YorkieChick- I think I might have used more than "barely touching my fingers to the top of the jar" but I cracked up when I read your "Plop" I could see Myself doing that.... I just want him to look like everyone elses babies... Thanks again for the replys. I will get it right sooner or later. I have had a rough time with him the last few days... He is possessed He is just a demon child. But I still love him..

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I tried Petsmart, but they didn't carry it, even the grooming department couldn't order any. I got mine for $15.00 including shipping from e-bay, I'm told Petedge has it for less, but you have to order more than one item or the carrying charges are outrageous.

| I got mine at PetEdge.com. It was 6.99, I also purchased the Pet Silk Coat Oil. It was 8.99. They had a sale on some cute clothes so I just found a few things to get my order up to 50.00 so I didn't have to pay any shipping. I kind of wish I would have bought the Pet Silk shampoo and conditioner. But it came really fast.
