| those who have shy yorkies. I just wanted to share something. Riley came from a breeder who did not socialize him at all, he was scared of everything, He has confidence now, but is still shy around strangers. I tryed a technic I saw on the dog whisperer and it worked! when there are strangers around he wont come near them, and if they get to close, (they will try to pet him and talk to him) he will shake and run away, the other night my sister and nephew were here, and they tryed to get him to come to them, and of course he would not have anything to do with them. so he went and hid under the bed, about an hour later he came back into the living room. I told them I was watching the dog whisiperer and I wanted to try something. I ask them to ignore him, not talk to him or even look at him. after about a half hour, he got up on the couch and sat by me and about another 30 minutes later, I was shocked when he got up and went over to my sister layed down and put his head on her lap. he sat there for awhile, then got up went over to my nephew and did the same thing. I was absolutly amazed, he never did that before, this was the first time he ever went up to someone he considerd a stranger, so the no touch no talk no eye contact that cezar suggest, does work. if you have a shy yorkie try this it does work.

| My Sophie is somewhat shy of starangers, too. I'll try this at the next opportunity and see if it works. I'd heard of it before but had forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder! I'm glad it worked for Riley.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Great! I know my shy ones will run and hide if people come over, but once they are here awhile they come out and will let them pet them. I am going to tell people when they come over from now on to just ignore them right from the start and see if they will come out sooner!! Thanks for the tip

| My Maggie, the Chi....she is crazy when people come in the house...like aggressive darking and IF the reach for her...she tries to nip them, I have told people for years. DO NOT look at her DO NOT talk to her. Pretend she does NOT exsist and IF they fallow my instructions she clams right down and within 10-15 min she is on their lap. But if they try to pay attention to her before she comes to them she will continualy try to bite. I have used this for 3 years. And IF people listen to me from there forward she is not crazy towards those people. I have a shy Yorkie too and yes it works.... |
