It wasn't me who did it. All it took was Zada looking up at him the first day home as if to be saying..........."I'm a little afraid and need to be hugged". That's all it took to turn him to jello. He calls her his little princess.

My hubby was the one that felt I needed a small dog.. so we took in a yorkie rescue.. not even knowing what a yorkie looked like by name..

So we took in this two year old rescue.. and due to working circumstances for a year.. we lived three hours away from each other.. my going home to our house on my days off.. him coming to my small apartment on the two week ends out of three I had to work..

So we got Brandi for me..picked him up on Saturday morning. and sunday evening he went back home.. but he took brandi with him.. when the breeder found out.. she called and said she had a girl that did not produce what she wanted.. and I could have her for me If we were willing to try two..

So we each ended up with a yorkie.. 20 years later.. and my life evolves around the yorkies.. He likes them, but does not have them in his heart of hearts like I do.. I personally believe his heart was too broke when brandi dies.. at home of old age..I really think he is afraid to get tooo close like that again.. so is good to them.. we sleep with them.. but are they his life.. I do not think so..does he panic.. no.. he says I do that enough for both of us.. does he help me tube feed if needed... you bet he does.. does he help me with whelping.. not in your life.. he does not even want to see a birthing although I have gotten him in there..

in one of the UNLUCKY ones, jeremy hates odie! ok maybe hate is a tad too strong...but he really doesn't care for him at all. but its because odie is really hyper when ppl first come home or come over to visit and he just wants to show is daddy some love and jeremy isnt into dogs jumping in his face

i ignore jeremy and just keep telling him that if he wasn't a "weekend dad" then odie wouldn't get so crazy giddy over him....

=] lol

Max was a birthday gift bought by my hubby (he thought yorkies were cute) but I sometimes wonder if he bought him for me or himself lol

doing research about the breed i loved that they were independent, while still being feircely loyal, and how a yorkie saved an old lady who was getting mauled by an akita, the old lady lived, the yorkie didnt. but any dog that can take on an akita to save some old lady is a fine breed to have protecting my lady.

(course, we have a large dog as well, whose the real muscle, our yorkie has become the watchdog though, and would still im sure, throw down his life for my fiancee)

I think that is probably true. My husband was raised by a Mother who seems to love animals more than her own grandchildren! She's not really very nice to anyone, but she loves our dogs! haha

You won't find a nicer person than my Sister in law. She's a 4th grade teacher and an excellent one at that, but she is NOT a dog person. She's sweet to Abby and Daisy, but they are not welcome in her house and I respect that.
They just got a little beagle for my nieces and nephew. That little darling will live outside I hate it and I wish she would change her mind, but that's just the way she is. I doubt she ever had a dog growing up.

My husband never had children (he's my second husband)....so the yorkies are his babies, and he is the first one to admit it! If someone doesn't like his babies, he wants nothing to do with them (the person!) LOL

Love

My boyfriend had a yorkie when he was younger so me having Poppy is a blessing to him, he calls him son and everything, and tells him he loves him, it's so cute.

Boy...am I lucky!!! My DH never objects to anything I want. YES...he spoils me. When our sheltie passed away we got a mini aussie which is what he wanted and I was in complete agreement. When I decided I wanted a yorkie, he had no problem with that but a yorkie wouldn't have been his choice of breeds. The minute I brought Gracie home, he went nuts over her. She totally changed his opinion of little dogs. He is so protective of both dogs, especially Gracie because of her size. And yes....they are both spoiled by him too!!!

Recently I've been talking about and looking for a second yorkie and I have his full support to get one. Little Gracie has stolen his heart!!!!

All we had to do was go look at Bernie at the breeder's house, and mine was hooked!

Wink I didn't. He did.

He wasn't even sure he wanted a dog. I found one that I wanted to go look at, and he asked me if I had my heart set on it when I put the pet carrier in the car. I said no, there have been lots of times when I've gone to look at pets and come back with an empty pet carrier. I put it in the car just in case.

I checked out the puppy then asked him if he wanted to hold her, then went to talk to the breeder about terms, and asked if he wanted to hold her in the meantime. I came back to him and he was nuzzling her and saying, "Look how much she loves me. Do you want this one?"

She's still a Daddy's girl. She bonded with him right from the get-go.

I think it's really important to find pets, whatever pets, that you bond with right off. If you're picking for a pet, and not for breeding or show, you don't necessarily look for the best looking one. You look for the one that comes to you and says, "YOU'RE MINE! Can we go home now?" It's just as important for them to choose you as it is for you to choose them. They usually have better instincts than you do.
