| Where do you leave your yorkies when you go out of town In the past when we go out of town, my mother-law would come stay with my Summer. This Christmas we will be going to Scottsdale to house hunt and she doesn't think she will be able to stay with her. Plus, I may have a new Yorkie by this time also. My groomer, also is a dog sitter, (very sweet lady) has offered to take her to her home to watch her. I am so over protective of my dogs I'm afraid to leave her. But I also hate to leave in the home, in a cage and have someone come to the house and take care of her. I thought about taking her.....we wouldn't be around much and she would be left alone in the hotel room alot. I also have never flown with her. This is the only problem I face with having these sweet little dogs..Who can I trust to take good care of them????? If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks for listenig to me.

| We find pet friendly hotels whenever we travel. Small fee usually, but less so than if you hired a sitter to enter your home, and less stressful than your pooch at anothers house! Once we vacationed in East TN, rented a cabin, only requirement was to have them in a kennel when we had to leave for the day. Dogs love to travel too! |

| Our groomer watched ours while we went on vacation. You need to ask where yours will be while shes grooming. My groomer had an enclosed area they could play in. It worked out good for us she even took ours home with her and her son played with them. He was sad when we came to get them

| We always take ours with us. When we go to Phoenix to visit my daughter we always stay in the LaQuinta in Scottsdale. It is a very beautiful hotel, nice big rooms and very pet friendly. There is a great grassy courtyard that they love to play in. The entire area is very pet friendly so we didn't have to leave them in the room much at all. The laQuinta is on Shea Blvd right at the 101 freeway.

| Lilly goes with me or I don't go at all. I don't have anyone up here that I trust to watch her.

| SOmeone I trust. Usually my in laws or friend. There are other options too like boarding them. I know my vet's office has an adjacent boarding place. I'd trust them too with my baby!

| Lucy and Rebel have been boarded with their groomer 2 times now and they had a ball. She loves them to pieces and has a special fenced in area that they have access to during the day. I always take one of their blankets that I sleep with the night before so they have something of their own that smells like me with them. It's worked out great for me and they will stay with her again in October.

| I think about emergency's and the what If I was not here to take care of Suzi all the time. It is vital to have backup because could happen unexpectedly. I have a neighbor who will take care of my animals. I trust her. My brother will take care of my son, and hoping this arrangemnt is good for all my family.

| My sister has watched Tucker for us, once at her house and once at ours. We were nervous wrecks but the trips were worth it. We thought about boarding him but it was so expensive we decided against it.

| Layla USUALLY comes with us wherever. But if she can't come her babysitter will take her> I have a form that I fill out that tells her everything.. what she eats and when- what she does before bed... when to expect her to poop.. emergency numbers..where i'll be... who to call if she can't find me... and while i know she is MORE than capable.. it makes me feel better to know she has that |

| Chloe goes to the Petsmart PetHotel when we are out of town. It is a clean and friendly facility. When she goes there, she is all excited too! They also have people there on site 24/7. I like it since I could have grooming service done there too. They also have a vet office there. They take them out few times or more a day for 15 min each time. And they clean right after our babies get done with their business. They also have something called "Bone Booth" there. So, you can call during business hours and "talk" to your furbaby. And....they have more add-on services, such as personal play time, group play time, snack kong, ice cream, etc.... I could save $ and ask my friend to watch her..but my friend does work long hours and I don't want Chloe to be at a stranger's home alone too long by herself. And God foriddens if anything bad ever happen.........you don't want to ruin your friendship with the friend... Last edited by mminichan; 08-24-2008 at 01:59 PM. |

| When we did travel I had a petsitter come in. But, we don't travel anymore and if we do anytime in the future I will take Sam with us. I feel so guilty leaving him.

I guess that is why we have a smaller motorhome.. so we can go but so can the yorkies... anne |

| Hi! I certainly know how you feel! I've never left my dogs anywhere. I've been fortunate to have someone come to my home and stay with them if I go away. My Otis is a runner and I never trusted anyone to watch him closely enough. I'm gonna PM you.

| We only do overnight trips and then only maybe 1 a year. In fact, the week of sept 8th we will be going to Gatlingburg over night. Gypsy and Puff will be left at home and my dtr who lives next door will come over and take them out of their room and play with them both days. If not for her, we would not go at all. I worry like crazy.
