| Spoiled and Untrainable!!! My daughter and I went tot he library the other day and she saw a dog training book that she wanted to read. Well of course the first breed I looked up was a Yorkie. I got to reading about specific training problems and in the very last paragraph this is what I read..... "Because these dogs are so small and precocious, owners will tend to spoil them. Once you do, they will never be trainable." I had to laugh......At first I laughed at the spoiled part but then I laughed because Diesel if very trained. He is housebroken, not as stubborn as most say they are and is overall VERY well behaved... Now I know we all love our Yorkies to death... BUT I know not all are well behaved.. My grandmother's Yorkie is very unruly.... She spoils him rotten. So much so that I don't think it is very good for him. I fully believe that dogs should have the chance to be DOGS... He doesn't get that chance very often. She treats him as if he was a human baby....I some will say that it is a good thing but I just disagree. ANyway kinda off the subject a bit... I just thought this quote out of the book was funny. I just don't know too many Yorkies that aren't spoiled !!! LOL </IMG>

| I read somewhere that if a yorkie is over pampered they become neurotic!!! |

I agree with this, but I think pampered and spoiled are different. A pampered pet can be a very well behaved pet. Some owners claim that their dogs are "bad" because they are so spoiled, and I always think the owner is "bad" because they haven't trained the dog properly. It's NEVER the dog's fault. The happiest dogs are those that feel someone is in control besides them.
