♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | Naming.... Before I saw my Bella for the first time, I had already decided on a name I liked for my new puppy, but when I saw her "Bella" literally popped out of my mouth before I even knew what I was saying! My boyfriend looked at me funnily (because he had never heard me mention that name before), and I just shrugged. She looks just like a Bella, and it suits her more than the other name I liked before I saw her. So, giving her a "call name" came very easily!!! Now, coming up with her long, AKC name is a different story altogether. I have no clue where to start or what I like....this will be a challenge. I have looked at other dogs' registered names, but I still don't know how people come up with them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or can you tell me how you came up with your dog's registered name? That might help me figure this out....Thanks! |

| My yorkie, Triss, is Triss Marigold of Rivia. It was a name from my husbands favorite video game. I really liked the way it flowed. We actually came up with the AKC name first, then just started calling her Triss. I liked it a lot too because the maltese I grew up with was named Prissy, and Triss sounds a lot like that to me. Sometimes people give AKC names like they would name a kid. You would pick a middle name too, then give them your last name. That would be kind of sweet. Or, some people name them after their owner and a personality trait. For example, the AKC name could be "Maggie's Little Warrior", but her call name is Xena. Do whatever feels right for you.

| I had picked the name Gypsy before getting her and a vet tech called her Gypsy Belle and I liked it so she became Gypsy Belle Ford.

| I think you have a year to send the registration papers to AKC if I'm not mistaken. Are you planning to breed her? I suppose if you are, then that's more reason to think out the name cause it would be on future puppies papers. Someone told me that Bella is the number one dog name these days, and there are several Bella's & Belle's on this forum. Maybe you'll want a middle name in her call name to distinguish her from the others. She sure is adorable, and Bella suits her. I am thinking of not sending in my Tiki's AKC registration, cause I don't plan to breed her, and don't know what the point of registering is. Ok, that's enough talk-talk-talk.... too much coffee this morning I think. Enjoy your precious little puppy!

| Most breeders include the name of the kennel from which they come. So, you might want to think about including where your little Bella is from. For example, we live in a neighborhood called Brighton, and our dog is named Pippin, so we could do something like Brighton's little Pippin, or Sir Pip of Brighton, or Bright'n Sunny Pip etc. Most importantly, have fun with the name!

| Pixie's breeders kennel 'Prefix' is 'Chevawn' so all her dogs registered Kennel Club names begin with this... I wanted something that included the word 'diamond' as the year of Pixie's birth (June 4th 2007) it was my grandparents diamond wedding anniversary and also the Queens and Prince Phillips! so the breeder and I came up with 'Chevawn Such A Diamond' I will have a think for you and see if I can come up with any nice original ideas!

| I really have no idea, but I wanted to say that I LOVE her name!!! Don't know if you've read the Twilight series, but I'm reading them right now & I'm obsessed with them. One of the main characters name is Bella, so now I'm in love with that name

| I sent in the papers for Triss because I thought it was fun. She will be getting spayed, but I still like the idea of registering her.

| My mom used to breed Shelties, and she always incorporated the dogs colouring or personality trait in the name (along with the Kennel name)... For example: Remmy's CKC name was "Gray Manor's Rum Runner" because he was sable & white. Or Tai was "Kaymic's Tye Dye" because she was a Blue Merle. Or Missy "Kaymic's Miss Pris" because she was so dainty. Good luck & let us know what you come up with!

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | silly?? Ok, I've been thinking about it, and I came up with something I think is cute (and kinda funny too), but I want your opinion. "Princess Bella von Sassy Britches" Is that too cutesy? She is the sweetest thing...I love her so much! I want her to have a name that reflects her, but yes, I may decide to breed her (I haven't decided), and if I do that name will be on the litter's papers. I need to run it by my man, but he'll think it's cute too. I just don't know..... This is worse than naming a child!!! |

♥ love my girls!! ♥ Donating Member | I'm being wishy-washy about it, but I think I've decided on Bella-Rina Golightly. (I love Breakfast at Tiffany's!! And I call her "my little Bella-rina"...obviously, it's close to ballerina and I just picked up the habit.) I hope that's what we continue liking....thank goodness we have a whole year! |
