| Overnight for neutering? Baxter goes in for his neutering tomorrow morning. Hopefully, this is going to help the marking thing improve. He's 7 months now, and started hiking and marking a few days ago. The vet says that he needs to spend the night. I'm worried about him staying over night. I think that he would be much better off at home with me to baby him. He does not like to be away from his mama. He's not the only YT baby going in for surgery tomorrow. Pray for ALL our babies being spayed and neutered tomorrow.

| awww, I know how you feel. Gracie Ruth had to stay overnight too and I really wasn't ready to be a whole night without her. However, I knew if there was any complications I would want her right there for immediate treatment. He'll be sleeping most of the time anyway and actually probably won't miss you much. Horrors, I know, but it's us that miss them more during this time. Prayers for Baxter to have an extra special easy time, and for you too!

| You can either sign a waiver, get it done somewhere else or transfer him to a 24 hour vet after surgery if nobody is there to watch him. If someone is there AWAKE the whole time, I'd probably let him stay. Hope all goes well.

| I would not want him left somewhere overnight if there wasn't going to be anyone there to monitor him. I understand the importance of keeping a dog calm and subdued directly following a surgical procudure, but I would think that if you are able to do that at home, then that would be better then him being at a vet's overnight, alone. Here's wishing him a speedy recovery from his upcoming fixin'. |

| Rudy was never kept overnight when he got neutered. I believe we took him in like 8 a.m. and picked him up like 4 p.m. the same day. Even reading lots of posts on here, I believe most males are not kept overnight for neutering. I'm sure Baxter will be fine. I pray that he will be. Please let us know how he did.

| Baron was kept overnight when he was neutered (he also had his baby teeth extracted). It was at Washington State University vet hospital, so there were people there all night watching him. I missed him, but I felt like it was probably the right thing for him, given his small size. Good luck! |

| Yes, I would definately ask if there is someone there overnite. If he isn't constantly supervised I would tell them "no way". I've had 3 dogs neutered and none of them had to spend the nite. Makes me wonder if the vet isn't trying to increase the fee with an overnite stay. Maybe not, but makes me wonder. I'd feel better with him home with me so I could stare at him all nite and know he's okay! Hope he's back and kicking very soon (and not marking!!)

| Sam stayed overnight but someone (asst) was there to check on him. My vet just likes to monitor them for 24 hours when they come out of anesthesia to be on the safe side. I cried most of the day and that night I saw the vet and his wife at the local pizza place and cried. But she assured me he was ok!! I hope he stops the marking! Big Hugs! I know its hard!!!

| My Scooter is 7 months old and was neutered last week. he also had 7 baby teeth removed, nails clipped and was microchipped. We dropped him off at the vet at 8AM and picked him up at 5PM. He also has a history of having heart surgery at age 4 months. He did fine.

| The vet that neutered Baxter this morning called me just now. Baxter's surgery went just fine. He's awake, but still drunk. They will monitor him through the night just to make sure everything is ok, no fever, infection, reations to anesthesia, etc. There is an RN there with them, and the vet can view them on web cam. They will call me in the morning when I can pick him up. Thanks for all of your posts that are so important when tring to wait these things out! He'll be ok there tonight. I'm trying to convince myself it is for the best.

| Glad to hear Baxter did fine with his neutering. I'm sure that makes you feel better to hear about the RN being there and the webcam. Take Care....you & Baxter.

| Happy for you both that things went well with the surgery. I know it's a scary thing. Tomorrow he can come home and he can relax in bed with his mama! |
