| Harness question My husband was watching it's me or the dog on animal planet and he said it staed you are NOT to pick up the dog by the harness. I have done this many of times.. at the park, on walks and a random stary dog comes out of no where. My question is. is it erally bad for them if you lift them up by the harness?

| Did it say harness or collar? I know there are even carriers that kind of work similar to a harness that when you pick them up it's kind of the same idea. I guess it would depend exactly what kind it is. I've never picked them up that way myself, sorry I can't be a great help!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I suppose it depends on the harness and the body type of the dog. I have Buddy Belts for both my guys - they're made of leather and quite sturdy. My Wylie is 7.5 lbs., and has a longer body - I don't think it'd be good to pick him up with it. Marcel is 3.4 lbs. and very cobby and compact - and I bet he'd be fine/safe. So, I think it depends....

| I haver not picke dSuzi up by the harness, but, I have a retractable leash. It goes out 16 ft .Sometimes, she runs and the leash pulls hard on her... However, wearing a harness, she is fine. I hate it when it happens, but, it sometimes does. I'd rather still use a harness then a collar... She is 7.5 lbs .
