| I am so upset and heres why we usually travel 3 times of the year Christmas, Easter and summer....Those are the times that I get off from school....so...here is my story: I have had Mya in the same kennel this year for Christmas, Easter and then 2 weeks this summer in July when we went to Europe. The first time when we picked Mya up after our Christmas vacation she had the kennel cough.....I was a little concerend so I phone the kennel and the vet, they both told me the same thing that its like the flu, and different forms of the flu..so I thought this makes sense as I am a school teacher and no that the students can get colds from each other...it makes perfect sense.. So then we went to Florida for Easter, again when we picked Mya up she had the kennel cough, and Finally ,after we picked her up in July she had a bladder infection and the kennel cough........... I lost it ......I was so damm mad this time, I phoned the vet and asked him if this could be caused by a dirty invironment.....of course he skirtted around the issue....this is what he told me""""" The bladder infection could be caused by either her sleeping on a cold cement floor or by holding her pee to long((((((( has anyone ever heard of this))))))))))))???? I phoned the kennel and told them that is the last time Mya will be at their place PERIOD... Personally, I really think that the establishment was filthy, and they dont ask people to provide paperwork that their dog have their shots....so infact they take any dog, shots or not. the vet did not know weather Mya had a vaginal infection or a bladder infection...without a pee sample he could not tell. I would really like your comments on this... thanks for letting me vent |

| Was it the same boarding place all three times? Did they ever cover any of the vet fees that occurred each time? I hope you don't plan to take her there for a forth time.

| Yes some dogs will hold their bladders and bowels so long that they can get an infection. I had a mini dachshund years ago who would not "go potty" no matter how many times he was walked, he would go in "his area" and no where else. Unless your baby is like this, I think I would be doing some checking of the establishment and some major complaining! Also, is the vet connected in some way to the boarding facility? Why skirt the issue...? Last edited by IWAY; 08-15-2008 at 06:57 AM. |

| I would never use that boarder again. Sounds like you won't. Sorry your baby had to go through this.

| That is true about the bladder infections... Thats why mommy never let us sit on cold cement when we were little. I cant imagine how cold it would be INSIDE of a kennel though?? And holding pee and poo also causes infections in ppl so I would imagine it would be the same for dogs. But getting kennel cough every time seems really odd... maybe find a dif place where they ask for shots and vet records...otherwise you dont know what else those dogs have that could be worse than kennel cough |
