YT 500 Club Member | Social or not? Last night I took Sophie for a walk near the lake. There were so many people and dogs out, many of our neighbors. Sophie isn't usually very nice to other dogs, but I saw our neighbor across the street coming toward us with her Goldendoodle. Sophie always barks at Dusty but seems to like him. So I waited, and we walked together with both dogs walking along with us. Sophie was great. Then we had a lady with a Lasa approach us, and Sophie went nuts! I just don't get it. We had just spent the whole weekend with my daughter's two dogs here (mixed breeds about 35 pounds), so it isn't like she is not around dogs. She just seems to prefer some over others. I don't get it.

| That seems normal to me... Some dogs will be more of a threat to your Sophie then others. the more experiences she has around other dogs and people the more calmer she will get.

| My old dog was like that. He was a Beagle/sheltie mix, he was calm around most dogs, but one of my friends had 3 little dogs, one was a poodle and my dog just couldn't stand the poor little guy. I could never figure out why, but any time that little dog got near him he would try to bite him.

| honey is just the same , the only dog she gets on with is my best friends springer spaniel called angel , any other dog that comes near us i panick because i dont no if she will tolorate a quick sniff from it or decide she is gonna bite it ! , its a big worry because most of the local dogs where i walk her are alot bigger so if she starts a fight she is gonna come off worse , i no longer let her off the lead anymore and if a dog comes over thats not on a lead i have to pick her up , i dont get it either x |

| Odie too is like that. When I take him to the dog park he'll play well with some breeds and others, well let's just say that he gets rather ornery with them. He'll bark at them growl and for no reason. He loves shiatzus but jrt.. forget it!! He just goes nuts. His bestest friend is a shnoodle he loves her to pieces. Probably because she protected him when he was a baby. She still watches for him and if there is a dog in the park that is bullying Odie she'll go after them and make sure that Odie is ok. It is really cute to watch.

| Pixie is kinda like that too..she lives with a Staffy that she loves...she gets along fine with the In-Laws Collie and we have another Yorkie and a Yorkie cross living right next door that she is fine with but sometimes when out walking with her she will just take an instant dislike to certain dogs...the last time this happened she just went CRAZY!!! there was a weimaraner that was off leash running around with a ball and Pixie was just SCREAMING at it!! I had picked her up because I am nervous of larger dogs around her and my hubby had stopped to speak to someone he knows that has two huge Rottweilers so that was another reason..but Pixie didn't seem at all bothered by them I think the fact that this Weimaraner was running about excited had something to do with it...maybe she wanted to run around with it..I just don't know...but it really upset her...the noise she was making was just soooo embarassing!!!
