| What are your Yorkie's measurements? I was researching, looking at a breeder's website the other day, and this particular site addressed the issue of weight and size. They said that they breed for "compact", but strong, healthy Yorkies. Therefore, their Yorkies WEIGHED more (not more than the standard), but the weight was because of strong bones and lots of muscle, not because they were LARGE. This made sense to me, and I definitely want a strong, healthy yorkie, more than I care about how much he or she will WEIGH. But I do want a smaller SIZE yorkie, so that it's easier to take him or her with me wherever I go. Which got me thinking - I have SEEN very few Yorkies in my lifetime in person. It's mostly all been pictures. I have no idea what the actual SIZE of a 3 lb vs a 7 lb yorkie is. So I was hoping people on here could help me out with some measurements. I am very curious to see responses... What does your yorkie weigh? And what are his/her measurements from floor to the top of the whithers? From the whithers to the base of the tail? |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Was the word...compact? Or cobby? Cobby bodied means with short and kinda boxed shape. That's not a good description to get a visual. There are breeders to breed towards cobby bodies. Your breeder may have used the word compact...in place of cobby perhaps.

The little guy I'm fostering, Jack, has more of a rectangular body (still need to post some pics of him). I think, if I can find it, I'd like more of a square shape - where height and length are about equal. I feel the tiniest bit superficial for even caring... It's not the most important factor by any means, just something that'd be nice... | |

| I totally understand what that breeder was talking about! When I was on my search for a Yorkie, I visited a breeder who had a small stud dog, but he was actually quite heavy. He looked as small as a 3-4lbs Yorkie, but when I picked him up, he felt like he was atleast 10lbs He was very sturdy and all muscle. My Mocha is 3lbs full grown and has a more fragile, delicate build. I know he's about 9" long from neck to tail, but I don't remember his other measurements (I'll take them when I get home tonight).
