| How much does your yorkie weigh?? Anyone have a larger yorkie?? OMG, I took my pup to the vet today and he said she weighs 4.5 pounds already and she is only 12 weeks. The vet said she is large for her age but not considered overweight. So if I go by the growth chart that will make her a 9 pound adult??? It may sound shallow but I am upset because I wanted a smaller yorkie and thats what I thought I was getting. Her parents were both under 5 pounds and she was the smallest of her litter. My breeder told me that she has NEVER had a pup grow up to be over 5 pounds and that was why I bought from her. I still love her the same but Im just really surprised. |

| I have a 5 month old male yorkie who is 7 pounds now... between 14weeks and 19 weeks he gained 2 pounds, but now he is slowing down. I really would not freak out over your pup being so big, god made her that way for a reason. But, as for the breeder saying she has never had a dog weigh over 5 pounds, and now yours is nearly there at 12 weeks i would have to call her out. did you actually go to the breeders home and see the dogs? I thought Buffalo would be smaller too, but you adjust to the size. Everything works out for a reason.

| My yorkie is 11 months and 6.5 lbs. Her parents were 4lbs and 5lbs. I expected her to be under 5, but what's most important is if they are healthy. My baby would look sick if she was any smaller! |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Did you see the parents in person or pictures of them? The breeder could have lied, but maybe she will just stop growing. Sometimes they reach their full weight earlier than others and some take longer and keep growing. One of mine stopped growing at 6 months...my biggest is a male and he is about 8 lbs

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | There's a old joke about, "How can you tell if a lawyer is lying?" Answer, is you can see his lips moving. Sometime, I think they could just change the word from lawyer to breeder and we got a new joke. Seriously, so many breeders say this, and it's really important to check out a breeder and see the parents for yourself. There are many people who own larger than standard Yorkies, and some of the most striking Yorkies I've ever seen were larger than the standard of 7 pounds and below. One thing about larger Yorkies is their heads are bigger, and it's easier to see that cute face. You don't have to worry so much about them jumping off the furniture and getting injured, and they are better around children. YorkieTalk has a club for those with larger than average Yorkies called the Teapot club, here's a link in case you might be interested in joining. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...apot-club.html

| My yorkie was about 6 lbs at 6 months and ended up at 11 lbs. Perfect weight for his size.

| I can understand your upset and its understandable. My breeder told me my Chachi would be about 5 or 6 lbs and he is 11. It ended up being a blessing in disguise though he ended up being the perfect size to romp around with my Daughter in fact my smaller yorkie has nothing to do with my Daughter

| Sometimes I wish Ranger was a little bigger- he's 13 months and has been between 4.8 and 5lbs for the past four or five months. He was exactly 2.5lbs at 12 weeks. I worry about him even though he's not tiny he gets sick really easy if he eats the tiniest amount of anything wierd, and jumps off EVERYTHING. Sometimes I think it's better to have one a bit larger, you just wouldn't worry so much I am sure. Too bad about the breeder, it is very obvious that puppy would be over 5lbs, she was just trying to sell her. Did you see your pup's parents and littermates?

| Oh and also 9 lbs is stiill very small for a dog. Even the biggest yorkies are stll small because yorkies are such a small breed

| No I didnt see any of her litter mates or her parents in person. I am only going by what she told me and pics that she emailled. I do have two young kids so maybe it is better that she be over 5 pounds so that they can play together when she is older and I wont have to worry so much about them hurting her. |
