| Puppy food vs Adult food Finnigen is 8 months old and in the last 2 weeks I have started to switch him from Nutro Ultra Puppy to Nutro Ultra Adult. He doesn't seem to care for it... he loved the Puppy. I think it's because it's smaller bites than the adult. Should I try something else (limited as to what I can buy I'm in a small town in Canada). Is there anything wrong with him eating Puppy food forever (he's 4.5lbs) or do they have to switch to Adult food? Thanks Shar-Lee & Finnigen P.s. it's been a food battle from day one.. he came to me on puppy chow, I switched him to Eukanuba then started reading horror stories about dog food, switched to Nutro (the best I can buy locally) and now he won't eat the adult... uggh

| Hi. Stick to it. Even though Yorkies stay quite small adult dogfood is formulated for their adult nutritional needs. We had a hard time when we switched also, so what we did is just slowly start mixing the adult with the puppy and I also added something they loved like a little bit of cottage cheese or a little chicken bullion. Eventually it was all adult food with nothing added. It took a little time but it worked. Good luck. |

| When I switched Sully from puppy food at 8mo., we switched to Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites (lamb and rice) and he loves it! At 6-8 months, yorkies are considered fully grown...so they no longer need the high fat content in puppy foods. The adult food will be just as gentle but healthier for your dog. I definitely approve of Nutro food, so maybe the Small Bites would be better?

| I switched my yorkies to adult food at around a year. Recently I've had 2 different breeders tell me they keep their adult yorkies on puppy food. Then another breeder told me she mixes the puppy with adult food. jeanne |
