Going back to work and leaving Coco alone -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all, I need some advice, we just got coco approx one week ago and I am trying to figure out the best way to keep him when kids go back to school and we will be working all day. We currently are crate training him but since we are home most of the time we only put him in it all night (he does not mind it and sleeps well, though I do keep him by my bed). Would it be better to put him in his crate all day when we are back to school and work (I have a water bottle on the crate). Or I have a bathroom that is just big enough for his crate and his food and water where I can gate it off, so he won't be cooped up in just his crate all day. I feel so guilty having to leave him for so long eventually. Anyone have any advice? Is it possible to crate train him for sleeping at night and leave him in my bathroom gated off for during the days? or will that encourage him to have accidents? He is doing really well with potty training, he goes outside, though we have to be on top of him to make sure he goes outside when he needs to. This will be more difficult when we are not home.

I leave Baxter in our master bath during the day with some pee pads. He rarely uses the pee pads. The little stinker can hold it all day long but can't sleep through the night. He hates the crate and sleeps with us. Don't feel badly about leaving him. Think of the joy you have when you are together. You don't spend every minute with your kids or husband so don't feel bad about leaving the puppy!

When we had Tasha we let her stay in the bathroom when we were at work. No problems. Eventually we were able to let her stay in the house and she never got into anything. With Trudy, since we have four family members staying with us temporarily, we bought a doggie play pen that is about 4 feet across. It has her blanket in it and some of her toys. She doesn't seem to mind being in there at all.
