| Amish Breeders I was at an Amish Farm yesterday looking at a pup, I didn't know it was an Amish farm before we went or we wouldn't have gone. This ended up being a bad situation and we walked away but here is where my curiosity has led me. 1. I though Amish God fearing folks would think it a sin to lie? They clearly lied to us about the age of the pup 2. I thought Amish people didn't use any modern day conveniences, however we found the add in the paper, called them on the phone and there was a car in their driveway.

| They may be Mennonite. They are a less "strict" offshoot of the Amish. They, too, are infamous for their puppymills.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Not to knock the Amish - but they are notorious for their puppy mills - they see dogs as nothing more than 'farm animals' and if I were you - I'd stay WAY CLEAR of any Amish selling puppies. Please no one get offended by what I just said - it's all over the net ....I didn't say this to rile anyone up. Just do a search about Amish Puppy Mills and you'll see why I said what I said OK ????? |

| Amish People hear the word "Amish" and think these people eat dinner with Jesus every night... There are Christians who lie, cheat and steal, there are Jews who lie cheap and steal, Muslins, Hindu's, Hey, there are even nuns and priests who lie, cheat and steal...a name or label means nothing...and have seen Amish in MD who are so abusive to animals, they should be locked up.. A dog to most Amish is no different then a cow...and can live that same way..toy or large breed. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Religious affiliation means nothing to me, ostensibly. The way a person conducts their lives and how they treat the creatures on this earth means everything to me.

| It is my understanding that they do not think animals have a "soul." They are just like property. Pam |

Your post is right on target though...there is good and bad within all! I used to have a certain amount of respect for the Amish, thinking it was a quaint way of life, which to some, it may be. After my first Amish/Mennonite dog auction, my opinion changed. My God doesn't want his animals treated in such an inhumane way.
