Thats very sad... I guess just some bad apples make the whole tree look bad.. It's sad the way they treat animals. We were taught that animals are God's creatures, creatures that cannot protect themselves, and anyone who hurts them, hurts Him. Animals have souls of course. They just die when the animal dies. Thats very odd they don't know that.. I guess it shows that their extremism shows for nothing they know. Do they even read the bible? ( Sorry if this is different from someone elses beliefs. I was always taught that)

We have a very nice Amish community not far from here. They have a little store that sells homemade breads and things. They are always very nice. I see the Amish out and about all the time. All of their animals are VERY well taken care of including the dogs! I don't think that all of the Amish treat their animal bad. I do however question other things they do around here. It's kinda funny seeing a horsedrawn buggie going down the road at night with headlights on and reflectors all over!!

I didn't mean to group "amish" as a whole, I was actually shocked that it ended up being an amish farm never expected it because I thought they didn't use anything modern, like the telephone. I was aware of amish puppy mills and as we walked to where they had the dog I seen a huge clothes line and the clothing I seen on it got my mind thinking. Then it was a young boy who was showing us the pup which I thought was a bit weird too. Next clue, we leave and go to get in my sisters explorer and there is a baby goat on the hood of the suv... I KID you not! THAT was funny, I told her to pick it up and put it on the ground and she was scared it would bite her. So, I picked it up and put it on the ground... the little bugger jumped right back up and all the way to the roof, then back on the hood. When I went to put it back down this time it jumped itself. We got in the car quick and pulled out, as we were pulling out the driveway we seen the woman of the family in the farm field and they were dressed Amish.... so we knew.

If anyone wants to see the goat, I took a picture LOL

On a lighter note, we did get her a morkie today after driving for 2hrs and she is perfect, and healthy and adorable.

The Amish puppy mills in Lancaster county are some of the worst in the country. Pennsylvania is known as the puppy mill capital of the East.

I know!!!! Thankfully there doesn't seem to be any hoof scratches that we can see. The goat was very young, still had an unbilical cord hanging

What the outside world sees is not what it seems. Am well acquainted with some who have left the Amish community. They tell horror stories. It's all behind closed doors. I am Mennonite---Mennonite Brethren---a modern but not liberal branch. There are many, many different branches. Some are ultra conservative, and some are quite liberal---both politically and in life style. Mennonites are considered evangelical---somewhat similar to Baptists with the main difference being that most Mennonite sects are pacifists. As said in an earlier post, there are good and evil in all churches. It's hard to look past the ones who are poor examples. Joanne
